Need to reserve an accessible cabana

Hi Everyone,
We are in the beginning stages of planning a trip on the Fantasy in Feb 2018. We will be traveling with another family and have decided to book a cabana on Castaway together. Since I am platinum status, I was going to book the cabana for all of us. One of the family members of the other family uses a wheelchair exclusively. Now for the questions:

Can I book an accessible cabana even though no one in my party requires one?
Do I need to link our reservations?
Any experience with an accessible cabana or what services are provided?
When sharing a cabana, how do we pay? (ie- Is it split on both of our accounts, do I pay and they reimburse?)
Is the cabana in both of our names?

Thanks!

The only thing I can answer is booking for the cabana appears to only be able to be in ONE cabin's name. The system will NOT let me put my parents on as well even though we just total 3. I called and they seemed to say that while you can let whoever use it with you, it is only in one cabin's name.

Our cabana was booked in our name only. Our daughter/son-in-law/4 grandgirls (who were in two separate additional cabins) were not added to the list until after we were on the ship . They were added and the appropriate charges were made for the overage in number per cabana allowed for the advertised fee. We had a total of 8 in our cabana.. so I believe we had to pay additional for 2.

I believe there is only 1 accessible cabana, #1, and it's on the family beach (just in case you were thinking of Serenity Bay). I believe it is held back and cannot be booked online, so you'll need to call to reserve it. I suggest linking your reservations, or at the very least you will likely need the other family's reservation info to show need for it.

Enjoy your cruise!

When we traveled with my Grandmother in Law we had to fill out a medical form stating why we needed a handicapped accessible room, pretty sure that there would be the same type of process for the cabana.

If no one in your party requires an accessible cabana, why would you want to book it and take away from someone who might actually need it for someone with mobility issues? I am not sure that you can book it without having proof of need either. It seems like no one in HER cabin requires it but another cabin that will be using the cabana is in a wheelchair. I think that's why shes wondering if SHE can book an accessible cabana to later add on another family that has accessibility needs.

My bad...missed that line when I was reading the OP. Need to increase my caffeine this morning and wake up!

yes, cabana one is the only accessible cabana by wheel chair as it has a ramp to the front door as well as a ramp out to the beach. All other cabanas have steps.

As noted, cabana one is the only accessible cabana. The only difference in the cabana itself is that it is ramped at both entrances as Trera said.

One member of my family uses a power chair but has never been in my cabin. I book any cabana I can get online (for just my cabin because as others said only one cabin can book a cabana for some reason.....perhaps because they are so expensive?) and then call DCL to request cabana one. The rep makes the request with the appropriate department and then I receive a call letting me know if we have cabana one. Even though it is reserved for my cabin only, it must be linked somehow because the other cabin (or cabins) have always been included once on board. As long as your reservations are linked, I would expect that will happen for your group, too.

As for splitting the cost, I would go to Guest Services once onboard with an adult from each cabin to make that arrangement.

Good luck.

I would call DCL and perhaps even Shore Side Concierge at least 140 days out and discuss.

I'm sure they will allow you to book #1, unless a CL guest requested the HC family #1 cabana.

JMT

Good Luck

If you are not in a concierge cabin, the concierge will likely refer you to the regular phone number.
