I have a reservation at BCV for a 2bd lockoff for July for 4 nights. I would like to try somewhere different and was thinking AKLV. Here is my scenerio:
DH: Not a big disney fan, but always enjoys it when he gets there. Has only stayed at BCV. Epcot is his favorite park. Would spend all his time at the pool and over at the tennis courts at GF. Seems to think that AKLV would be much farther for him to drive to tennis at GF :confused3. But he says he doesn't care where we stay.
DD14: Another not a big disney fan. Would stay all day in the room on the internet if I allowed it with an occasional trip out to the pool. Epcot is the one park she wants to go to because she is obsessed with Japan and its culture.
DD12: My comrade :thumbsup2. We are going for her birthday, but she isn't sure if she wants to stay at BCV (loves SAB becuz of the sand bottom) and you don't have to ride a bus to every park. Or AKLV because its someplace new.
Me: I would like to try somewhere new. But I don't know. I want AKLV cuz its new and I've been wanting to try Boma. I wondering if taking a bus everywhere is a pain. And is the pool as good as SAB since it will be HOT and since we go to disney very often I see the pool being used alot.

Help me with any input please!

JMO, but i'd stick with BCV and just take an early evening trip to AKV one evening. make reservations for an early dinner at boma and arrive a little early (i.e. during daylight) to wander out back to check out the animals on the savanna. if you have a great experience, you can build interest in staying there next time.

i don't think taking a bus everywhere from AKV is a pain (i've done it) - and it's probably easier in some ways since you don't share bus service like at BCV - but it sounds like you've got a lot of BCV fans to deal with...

The present AKV pool is not particularly exciting, except it's surrounded by exotic animals, which makes it special to me, but probably not to teens! I am not sure that Kidani's pool will be special for teens either.

I tried Boma for the first time in December and enjoyed it very much and I think you're in for a treat if you do eat there.

I would let your DD decide! There will be the thrill of staying in a brand new building with 3 full baths in your two bedroom if you can get Kidani. If you can't I would definitely waitlist for it, if she decides to go to AKV. If you are in Kidani it will be harder to get to Mara and Boma. Maybe the pool will exite your family...I just don't know.

I think for one visit, the newness of Kidani's buildings and grounds, the animals and the experience of trying something new would push MY decision to AKV, but I do love the seeing the animals, and have never minded the bus rides to/from AKV.

I should tell you that we do own at both AKV and BCV, and others.

Keep BCV this trip and book AKV next year after Kidani opens. If you are going to experience AKV, you might as well wait and experience the whole thing.

Would BWV be different enough? Epcot fans would be happy, maybe DH would try the BW tennis court? Easy walk to DHS as well.

Someday I will try BWV just to get that BW view! But for now I hate to say it but that clown just freaks me out. ;) We stayed at the Inn back in '03 and should have bought in to DVC then. The reason DH needs the tennis at GF is because he sets up a time to hit with the pro and the pro doesn't come him, he has to go to the pro.

It's amazing how bothersome the clown at BWV is :lmao: Last year we tried to plan a late trip and we couldn't get BCV, but could've had either BWV or SSR. Although we wanted to be in the Epcot area (our DS 5 loves walking around the boardwalk seeing the performers), my DW was too freaked out about the clown to choose BWV so we took SSR (and ended up really liking it).

As much as Disney caters to their guests, I'm surprised that with all of the people that fear clowns (or at least that one) they haven't received enough complaints to re-do it !

I just wanted to share that that clown kept us from staying at BW for years. I'm not afraid of clowns, I just don't like them. (DH had to scold me for trying to teach our then 2 yr old DS to say that clowns are evil ...) When we finally did stay at the BWI, we spent all our swimming time in the quiet pool instead of near the evil clown.

I wanted to buy BCV instead of BWV in part because of the clown, but I got outvoted.

So, yes, count me as someone who wishes they would retheme the pool. I wouldn't complain about my dues going for such a worthwhile project!

And to the OP, I would keep your reservation for BCV and try AKV once Kidani opens and you could try the new waterpark. We're deliberately using our developer points up now and making a second trip this year once Kidani opens...

The Clown is a little freaky.....But I wouldn't allow it to be the deciding factor of allowing me to stay there. Quite a quandry you have here, altho a GREAT one. Having never stayed at BCV I would stay there for the amenities. Close to 2 Parks SAB and you can walk over to the BW in like 5 minutes.
I agree would wait a year and them go to AKV to see Kidani thats what we are planning to do. Good Luck...you'll be happy no matter where ya go I think.pirate:

Surely I'm dating myself, but I had a record story book of Bozo the clown when I was young. Bozo was having a birthday, and I have good memories when I see the clown slide, it looks just like Bozo to me!

You can still make a ressie at Boma for one evening! We always make the trek over there, regardless of where we are staying. It's my FAV!:thumbsup2 Just allow yourself like 90 min. to get there! That way you can walk around a bit and check out the property AND enjoy a fantastic dinner!

Enjoy your BCV stay, and I agree that if you have the inclination to eat at Boma's, do it!

PS. Never saw nor read IT, so not a problem for me. "The Shining" cured me of reading/going to see Stephen King...well except for Close Encounters.
