Need to make a home haircoloring decision-please help!

Ok, I have medium brown hair with a hint of red (light medium brown). My hair is thin, dry, and frizzy. I used to use Clairol Natural Instincts, and found it gave my hair a bit more life. I just got a box of Clairol Hydrience in St Tropez Red (medium red) and a box of Ginger Zing (medium copper) in Loreal Feria. I found that the conditioner is missing out of the Feria box, so I may use the Hydrience conditioner either way. I don't want to darken my hair, just bring out more of the red, and make it a little younger/healthier looking. Which should I use, that will damage my hair less and not darken it? I am ready to take the plunge today, so any advice is appreciated!

I'm no expert, but I've been coloring my hair at home for years. I always used to use Preference (because Heather Locklear told me I was worth it), but recently switched to Hydrience. I can honestly say that even though it's cheaper, Hydrience makes my hair look so much better, and the color lasts longer. I'm sure that doesn't help you out much, but at least you can have faith in the Hydrience. It's really great haircolor.

I have mine professionally done, but friends of mine swear by the Herbal Essence line of hair coloring.

If your hair is dry I really suggest sticking with the natural instincts. Any pernament hair color will be more drying than an semi pernament one. However Hydrience does have a good reputation for not being as drying as others.

I'm planning on trying the harbal essence highlighter this week after I get my hair cut. I usually use an all over color but I've been letting it grow out (and covering it with natural instincts). All the dead faded color should be gone after the next hair cut.

I love Nice and Easy and Open... I think both are by Clairol.
