I am wondering what the difference is between atkins and South Beach? Not sure what diet to try? I need to make a measurable dent before my cruise so that I won't be to embarrassed to be in a bathing suit. I work out 5 days per week , so that isn't an issue.. my main probelm is that I am addicted to ice cream.. and love to bake and eat what I bake...

Any advice???

Thanks, I'll try the link.

I'll take a crack at this, but hopefully others will correct me if I'm wrong. :D

Atkins stresses carb control. Your calories for the day will be roughly 60-70% fat, 20% protein and 10-20% carbs. Most of your carbs will come from lower carb veggies and a small amount of low carb fruits. You will not be eating sugar, flour, potatoes, corn, grains or other starches - if you eat these things at all it will be in extremely small quantities. You will not be hungry - if you are, you have a snack.

South Beach stresses eating proteins and complex carbs in equal portions, while emphasizing good fats and minimizing bad fats. From what I can see, the calorie proportions would roughly be 40% protein, 40% carbs and 20% fats. You will be expected to eat 3 regular meals a day plus snacks and dessert with dinner. You won't be hungry on this way of eating either.

Hopefully that helps. If you have more questions, feel free to post them. These kinds of discussions help everyone! :D

Best of luck figuring out what will work for you and looking fabulous for your cruise! :sunny:
