I've seen a lot of threads saying "Dc is back!" or "OMGZ I dc'd!!!!" on a lot of the VMK related forums(not singling out any forum or person here) I'm a member on and I'm getting tired of repeating myself. So I'm just posting this on the main ones I'm on.

DC will never go away. Practically anything you play or do that requires you to connect to something can disconnect you. NO ONE can fix disconnects on anything. They can make it so that it happens to like one in 4000 people but it can still happen. It use to happen way too often in VMK and now that they've "fixed"(by which I mean fixed the bug that makes you dc every 20 minutes) I'd like to tell people who are planning to or have already to stop it.

I agree with you totally. :) :)
I mean Yes I get DC a lot but I don't post it everytime I do.
Nano is right there is 4000 people trying to get in the game. They only fixed the 20 minute dc bug and it is not a Tragedythat you stiil dc. It is just a game and you have to DC once and a while.
Nicely said Nano. :)

I feel like a TOTAL idiot....what is DC??

sorry
It mean disconnect like that message comes up and say you have been disconnected. That is not a dumb question. :)

While your thought and consideration for trying to eliminate needless posts is appreciated, this is a free and open forum when people are allowed to post what they would like as long as it is within the guidelines. DIS has moderators to control posts when needed but they are fairly conservative about post removal or deletion as well as telling people what they can and can't post. This is so it remains an open forum and friendly to most users. While we all tire of seeing certain kinds of posts, my guess is as new people come and go and some of the same remain you will continue to see those and other threads.

I am not disagreeing with you completely, but I think this is where the search button comes into play. All members, not just some, are allowed to search for threads before they start another. It is one thing to post a post and another to post a thread. There shouldn't be 3-4 threads or more on the same issue...one can simply add to the conversation already started instead of naming their own thread.

I agree with you that this is a free forum open for people to post what they want as long as it stays within the guidelines, but sometimes a little consideration of others is a good thing. ;)

I agree with nano on this one.. I have actually DC'ed quite a few times since they fixed it, but i know that it will happen no matter what so I don't let it bother me enough to run here and post that I DC'ed.

Agree! :thumbsup2 And I'll add that I think the mods do a good job combining threads when needed. Btw, its also ok for us to politely bring duplicate threads to the attention of mods in an effort to help them out. :)

This is a good point about the search, I think some people just like to have their own threads, and other just aren't used to how the board works yet and are still learning. Seems to me that the original comment that started this thread could have also been made on one of those other threads about DC. :confused3

Let us not forget that when they bump a thread that is older then a month they get bashed for bumping old threads. (In multiple threads) I'm not saying if you don't like it leave if you don't like it. Just get used to it if you like the DIS. There are plenty of over moderated Forums out there that will ban you from existence if you can't follow their soup line rules. (No soup for YOU!)

And how true, If I search back not a week there is another thread similar trying to tell people what not to post that was title something like "I'm not trying to Back Seat Moderate but..."but actually I believe that one did get deleted. I agree that people don't always consider how others feel or know about strict forum edacate. But you have to remember there are many young members here that have not fully developed there writing and learned some of the finer points.

I do not love every new thread or post but if it does not interest me I move on, if it's old I usually move on if I have input I might give it. Part of Consideration is tolerance. Part of being in a community is the ability to get along with the others in the community. I am not a fan of the threads that are repeated or dragged from deep in the past or are more on a personal note then actual public fodder, and let us not forget all the needless topics. Yet despite that I argue on the side that it is a friendly open forum and that prevails over my personal needs and feelings. I belong to many forums, but feel most comfortable here at DIS and post only here for the most part. Yet in about Two years I have started less then a dozen threads. Some things are better left unsaid an each has to learn that on their own. I could say a lot that I have left out, consideration and advance thought about how if I say certain things it could be hurtful allow me to stop here.

Very well put, I think. I agree with you down to the very last word. ;)

I have, I think, a good amount of tolerance not only in my life outside the internet, but also online and I have learned to be patient when scrolling down a page and reading several threads titled nearly identical, I simply scroll by them.

Though, I, as most, have opinions on them and will express them when necessary. I think the way you put that post was descent and certainly well explained.

Heh, I could go on, but I think I WILL start to become redundant to what you have said already.
