I am finding that I need to get away to WDW more often. I am SURE that none of you feel the same way. :lmao:

Anywho, I was considering adding in some long weekend getaways, perhaps Friday, Saturday and maybe Sunday nights.

I might like to sample various times of the year.

Any suggestions as to some of activities I could hit during my weekend jaunts throughout the year?

Oh, there's those weekend points to deal with. But, you know what, we added more points to be able to go more often. When we bring the family for their Sunday to Friday stays, DH and I often stay for at least one of the weekends before or after.

Unfortunately, the weekends are more crowded even for things like the Flower and Garden show, never mind Food and Wine. F&W is crazy on weekends, IMO, but we go and have a good time! For F&G, I always get the main schedule when I get there, and I be sure to get to at least one of the special lectures. They have always been worthwhile for me.

Saturday, Sunday, Monday, leave Tuesday morning... That way you don't have the issue with 2 nights of 'weekend' points...

cheaper to fly on a tuesday... Morning flights can get folks home for work...

Went last weekend and flew back on Monday morning, got home a 8:30 for work...

We feel your pain!

We try to squeeze in at least 2 "extra" trips a year, usually a 3-4 day long weekend. The points take a hit, but I can't afford or have all the extra vacation days.

When we go on these mini trips, we try to pick one thing special that we normally would not do, esp if the kids are along. Book one of the behind the scene tours, rent sea races at the 7 seas lagoon, afternoon tea at the Grand Floridian, etc. Last year on one of our getaways, we tried to hit the different shows, like Festival of the Lion King, Beauty & the Beast.

We also like to have at least one really nice table service dinner for two.

But most of all we just want to be at Disney!

PS - What part of MD are you guys located?

I know that weekends aren't the best use for points but I work for an airline and we fly for free. I don't have much vacation time yet, so if flights look good and DVC has availabilty we just hop on the plane and go for a day or two on the weekend. It is nice just to get away from home even if it's not for long.
