My daughter in a online singing contest and this weeks genre is old jazz standards like songs befor 1950. She is 12 and at a lost. Help me come up with good ones.
Does it have to be a pre-1950 jazz standards, are they asking for songs from certain performers/songwriters or could your DD do something maybe from Dumbo? Dumbo has some really great jazz/blues songs - "Baby Mine", "Never Seen an Elephant Fly"
Take a look at this website: http://www.jazzstandards.com/compositions/index.htm
They list songs by year of composition/publishing date. Does your DD like fast, peppy numbers? How about "Fascinatin' Rhythm"(1924)? Or does she like wistful ballads like "My Funny Valentine"(1937)? There's always "When you Wish Upon a Star"(1940)...
as long as its a jazz song like the older ones they are ok with it. She likes faster songs better. Ill take a look at the ones you have mentioned thanks.
oh and by the way Agnes thats the list he gave us lol there are 1000 songs and most i never heard so came here in hopes of people who listen to this type of music and can pick a good one. 2 songs she like were taken so were lost.
I love this kind of music! I could recommend a lot of these on the list, but for something peppy and cute for a 12 year old, how about "Get Happy" and "I Got Rhythm".
