Not sure I'm posting in the right place on this one! I am going to be trying to book a grand villa for my daughter's bachelorette party in a few days and I'm nervous that I won't get the room that she wants. Can someone please remind me what time in the morning I need to be on the website to give myself the best chance? I am on the east coast.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Book it now and walk it!

Oh yes. OP this is what I would do too if you really want exactly what she is asking for. Good luck! Come back and let us know how you make out.

Are you looking at booking 11 months or 7 months out. If 11-months that means seeking a reservation for sometime in the latter part of July, one of the lowest DVC demand times of the year, and, with one exception, you should have no problems booking your GV at any time of the day at 11 months (or even many days after) regardless of which DVC Resort you own. The exception is the OKW GV's in the near Hospitality House booking category, which tend to fill instantly at 8 a.m. at 11-months out year round.

If 7-months out, you are looking at third week of March and likely several resorts already have at least some of the dates filled for GVs during that period, such as Jambo, Kidani standard view, VGF, BWV and OKW, and thus you will not be able to get them even if you are the first one online to reserve them at 8 a.m. at 7-months out. Other than BLT, if not yet filled for any of your applicable days, there should be no problem at 7-months out, at any time of day, getting one of the remaining resorts that have GVs -- SSR, Riviera, CCV, and Kidani savanna view. Thus, BLT is probably the only resort where, if rooms are still open, that the issue of booking right 8 a.m. may be important. For that one if dates are currently open, you might consider a walk by booking some nights right now, and then walking ti the actual time you want (with the understanding that walking has a real risk of not succeeding at 7-months out because an owner of the resort can book the days you want at any time.

Also note that if you are actually considering Kidani, you may want to change that. During March 2022, its pool will be closed.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I am booking at the 11 month window for next July at our home resort (OKW). I have checked availability using the same number of days, but a week earlier and it looks like there is availability. Wish me luck!

I really don't understand the concept of walking a reservation. Can someone point to a topic that explains it step by step? I know my DD and her friends really want to be in the Epcot area, so will be trying to switch at the 7 month mark.

For walking see this thread, including my explanation at post #14 https://www.disboards.com/threads/reservation-walking-dont-be-mad-hear-me-out.3829392/#post-62793943

If there is a high likelihood that the room you want is not going to available at 11 months, and every day just past 8AM (seconds) the availability is gone, walking is a way to have more that one attempt to get the fast disappearing inventory. You basically start trying days to weeks before your 11 month booking window, and once you have a reservation, you "walk" it forward in time making sure you always have the last night in the 11 month window reserved. The only to have a night reserved past the 11 month night is to have a current reservation that extends into the 11 month window. This way you are always "guaranteed" to be able to move your reservation forward. (DVD can take room out of inventory to "block" your walk). At 11 months this is "guarenteed". At 7 months it is not, because home resort owners can have rooms booked in the days you are "walking" into. Since you are wanting to move your reservation at 7 months to an Epcot area resort, this limits your options. You can walk at OKW (but not generally needed for GV outside of the Fall Frenzy). But once you have that reservation I would not recommend modifying over to near Epcot, until the day of the 7 month window. If you moved it over early and then it lost availability while trying to walk it, you would be out of a room. BTW, we loved our stay in a GV at OKW! 4 full BR, tons of space, and a boat ride to DS for late night activities.

If you get online at 8 sharp, I don't think you need to stress about getting the 3 bd since this is your home resort.

What if you can only switch part of the reservation? Decide how many days you want in the EPCOT area and then book two different reservations at the 11-month mark, put a different secondary guest on the second reservation. This way, you can modify a portion of the reservation if only a few days have availability...

OP here, I just wanted to come on and report I was able to book the reservation, but only if I booked an additional day. Not a worry, I will cancel that day at some point closer to by calling and having someone modify the reservation for me.

You should be able to drop a day by using the Modify function online, when you’re ready to do that, assuming you’re dropping a day at one end or the other.

Close to Epcot only BWV has GV’s. BCV doesn’t have any. RIV has some but they are limited because not all of the resort has been declared yet. OKW is a short bus ride to Epcot anyways. Around 5 minutes when you leave OKW.
