I am one of the lucky ones who has kids who actually sleep in! UNfortunately it is tough to get them up when I need to be someplace in the morning! Any tips on how you get your kids out of bed to get to the parks at opening?

If you're staying on Disney Property, tell your kids that Mickey's going to call them in the morning. Then, call the wake-up service for a wake up call. You can do this from your room phone. DS loves waking to hear Mickey say "Fun doings at the park today!"

If you're not on property, a wake up call from your hotel. The ringing phone near them will rouse them.

Or, turn on the tv to their favorite cartoons and play it at a slightly louder volume than you normally would. That's sure to perk them up and get them moving.

Offer bribes or make a contest out of it. First one up and out of bed and is ready to leave by X time gets a special treat at the park! It doesn't have to be a huge treat ... an ice cream or small trinket.

Pull those curtains open and let the sun shine in ... that's going to wake them up!!!

Or if you're driving, bring a small ghetto blaster (do people still call them that?! *L*) and play Disney music when you wake them up.

Bring a Disney alarm clock? My daughter has one. What is so odd is that she gets up and ready on time and on anyday where there is no school.

dd4 & dd11 mo. dd11 mo is no problem, plus she isfast & easy to get ready since I do everything for her. dd4 is tough. She wants to do everything herself & is very hard to rouse. I think the wake up service will be great (staying at VWL). Once she hears it the 1st time she'll jump to get the phone in the future! We are in a 2 bedroom but my sis will be there too staying with dd4 so she can start waking her when she gets up.

ghetto blaster - boom box maybe? Not even sure if that is the right term nowadays!!

The reason I asked the ages is because this really wouldn't work for a older child, but what I plan on doing for my three little ones is leaving a present from Mickey each morning (wrapped and all). All you would have to do is whisper in her ear, what do you think Mickey left you today? I am sure this would get her up and going in a hurry. You could even say Mickey says you can't open it until your dressed, I am sure that would speed things up a little. I actually have three older kids comming with us also so for a game I made little cards up with sayings that rhyme leaving clues as to the destination for that day to see if they can guess!!! I have gatered up several little things water bottle straps (Oriental Trading Co.), personal fans (disney sale) , disney stickers (Dollar Tree), temp. tattoos (OTC, they did have some princess ones in the party stores, but I have mostly boys with me so I went with the generic kind since I couldn't find any disney related boy ones), t-shirt (disney sale), Toy for the younger ones (disney sale) and $20.00 ea for the older ones.

how about letting them sleep in their clothes? shorts and a tee shirt are as comfy as pj's... and this way you've got one step of the morning process out of the way the night before... and you save on laundry ;)

i have a friend who's kids sleep in their clothes all the time when they have somewhere to be in the morning... my kids are such early risers it's never been an issue, but i can see how it would work :)

I found it wasn't hard to get my grandson out of bed each morning at Disney. He is two and I gave him the job of turning on the light in the room to wake everyone up! He loved it. He would stand up in his crib each morning, look at me and say "light". When he flipped the switch he would giggle at the moans from the grown-ups!

they're on vacation -- let 'em sleep in for a day or 2! that way they can be refreshed & have a great day. they'll fall asleep at a reasonable hour & wake earlier the next day. in the interest of full disclosure, i have to say that i have never understood the attraction or importance of being at rope drop.

Last trip to DL I found the solution. We are none of us morning people but I am always so excited I get up first. Then I announce that whoever gets in the bathroom first and gets ready, gets to pick the first ride. If we have a tie (as in two small bodies trying to get into the doorway) I announce a winner (i take turns) and then the runner up gets to pick the first place for a snack. The mickey wake up call lost its novelty early on for anyone but me!

My family was much easier to wake up while at WDW than any other time. I'm usually awake at least an hout before them, so I'd get up before 7, shower and then get the two of them (DD and DH) up and ready for the day. We were usually out of the room and at the parks by 8:30, unless we had an earlier PS.

I think the excitement of being in WDW, especially if this is their first visit, will be enough to make it easy on you to get them up at at 'em.

I am buying small gifts for my DD to open each morning of our trip. "Tinkerbell" is going to leave one each night. I bought stuff like princess bubbles, a new tink bathingsuit, a Dis puzzle. This way, we can avoid buying souveniers at high prices and she is going to be excited to get up in the a.m.
