Need tips to remove/minimize scratches on plastic "lenses"

My husband has a "disco" style light that got damaged and many of the plastic lenses got scratched. Anyone have any tips on how to remove/minimize the scratches? It's like this one at Spencer's: http://www.spencersonline.com/product/8disco-ball-direct-plug/

We used it for a school dance tonight and a student knocked it down, where it continued to spin (it's motorized) and scraped up the lenses. We didn't notice immediately so it spun on its side for a while. I'll likely get him a new one, but if I can make this one look a bit better so we can still use it, that would be nice.

Honestly, if the one he has is the same as the one you linked to and is only $20 you're probably just better off getting a new one. There are plastic polishing kits (I know they're sold for restoring plastic headlights on cars, so you might want to look in an automotive store), but you'll probalby pay close to $20 or even more for the polish and I think it's pretty labor intensive and time consuming to try to do.
