need tips on getting from World to Universal

We are planning 3 disney days, 2 days at Universal and 1 day at Daytona. What's the best way to get from Disney (staying at Pop Century) to Universal? A friend told me she saw a bus that said Universal at her resort. Is there a shuttle? Surely Disney wouldn't voluntarily ship you over there. We will rent a car for 1 to 3 days as needed. Thanks in advance for the expert advice!!

Yes there is a bus that will come to Pop Century and take you to Universal. It used to be a bright yellow Mears bus (not sure if they have switched companies or not as this was before Magical Express). When you check in at the Pop tell them you need to make arrangements for the shuttle bus to Universal. If I remember correctly they have 2 busses that leave from Pop Century one is very early and the other is mid morning. Then you have 2 busses back - one late afternoon and one evening. You need to make your reservations for the bus at least 24 hrs in advance. I'll do some checking and see if I can find the phone number for you.

Thanks so much for the info. we just loved taking the busses on site last time we were there. We rented a car for the week, but basically only used it to go to Universal for 1 day and back and forth to the airport. 7 weeks away-Can't wait!!!

Is this bus only for the people staying at POP, or can anyone staying onsite use it to get to Universal ?? (ie. beach club, poly,porfq)???

Sorry it took me so long to reply - I've been having some computer problems.

Anyway, here's what I've found in my search.

If you haven't already purchased your US tickets you can add roundtrip shuttle transfers to your ticket order. The roundtrip shuttle transfers are $16 per person. This shuttle will pick you up from your Disney Resort and take you to US and back to your Disney Resort. You do have to add the shuttle service to your ticket order (at the time of purchase). If you are planning on purchasing your tickets when you arrive at US you will have to take a taxi.

You can call a taxi right from your room (407) 699-9999 and they normally take 15 minutes. Disney Resorts do not normally have a taxi line but you can sometimes catch a taxi outside the resort. (When I've stayed at The Pop the taxi picks you up where the Magical Express Bus loads and unloads). You can call a taxi directly or you can contact the Concierge at your resort to request a taxi. Either way, it will probably take about 15 minutes.

Universal Studios does have a taxi lane, so you can easily catch a taxi right outside US to get back to your resort.

The price does vary from Disney Resort to Disney Resort, but the usual price is about $40-45 each way to US. (These rates were quoted 9/28/07).
