I don't like to get wet and the drop at the end of Splash is sooo scary, but I'm going to "make" myself go this next trip ... would appreciate tips on staying dry, etc.

I always sit on the left side of the log, (there is a waterfall after the drop that gets you wet on the right) and I also try to get towards the center of the log too. I always hated the BIG drop, until my DH told me to raise my hands in the air, it would be easier, and guess what? It is!! I now love it! Have a great time!!

Wear a cheap, packable poncho. Sit in the back, and duck when you go down the big drop. We always get wettest after the big drop when you go around the bend to get off the ride. You can sit there and get hit with the water cannons that go off every time a boat goes down the big drop.

The wettest part of SM, imo, is when you GET INTO the log! the seats are always soaked! Bring something waterproof to sit on (a shopping bag, a poncho, etc). The rest of the ride you usually only get sprinkled (except for 1 or 2 unlucky individuals :umbrella: )

I make sure to slide my butt forward a bit in the seat. That keeps me dry in that area but for everywhere else, I tuck a small dry washcloth in my pocket or fannypack. I use it to wipe the water off my face and glasses. That dries me enough to make me comfortable the rest of the ride. :smooth:

At the big drop put your arms up and don't look down, look straight ahead to the castle, it is beautiful! By the time the flash hits your eyes for the picture the drop is over. Sit in the back on the left too!

I don't know what happened on our last trip but i was sitting on the left and i got soaked!!! I have never gotten that wet on Splash mountain. I just never expected it. Now... I was sitting in the 2nd row so maybe that had something to do with it, I don't know. I just wanted to let you know. :confused3

I think if you really don't want to get wet, just wear a poncho. If you're there in the summer they will use more water and you have a much better chance of getting soaked!

It's a fun ride, don't be scared:-)

yep, sit back and left. OR, go on a cold day when they turn down the water cannons. We went the day before Christmas when it was probably in the 40s or 50s and sitting in the front right seat (the "wettest") only got a me tiny sprinkle of water!

Definitely avoid being in the first two rows, and wearing a poncho is a great idea. We were in the first two rows and got splashed, but certainly not soaked to the bone. (we saved that experience for Kali River Rapids at AK!)

Just returned from our January trip and rode Splash Mountain 5 times. I sat in the back each time and barely got wet. It also helped to look down to see where I was going during the 5 story plunge. The first time I rode Splash Mountain I looked at my feet, and the drop was certainly more scary.

Don't go on....but remember you'll miss all the fun. Don't worry, pick a sunny day and you'll dry fast. It's worth it.

Wear a poncho, on the left, in the back!

I hate to get splashed. We have already pretty much agreed to skip Kali River Rapids, but Splash Mountain is possible. Tips to stay dry are GOOD. :umbrella:
