I hadn't thought about this until I just started reading the various menus on Deb's site and noticed that LTT serves Nestea Iced Tea. Personally, I have a strong aversion to that "tea"...I'm a brewed iced tea gal. On past trips it's never been an issue as they were before I was diagnosed diabetic and would drink soda pop...but I'm not a great fan of diet soda either.

So, do any of the restaurants offer fresh brewed iced tea or are they all offering Nestea brand iced tea?

And along a similar thought, do any places offer the Minute Maid Light Lemonade? I noticed it on a few of the menus with more recent updates.

Thanks!

AFAIK, they all serve the Nestea variety. That being said, I think you could probably ask for them to brew you a glass fresh, of have them bring you hot tea makings and a full glass of ice.

Olivia's at Old Key West serves brewed iced tea from China Mist Tea Company. I know because I asked where they got their raspberry decaf iced tea and they gave me the website address. I've been ordering their traditional tea, decaf tea, raspberry tea and black currant tea ever since. It is great.

We went to the Cape May character breakfast last Sunday, and they served fresh brewed iced tea. ( I asked our server before ordering, just to be sure).

Some places serve "Nastea" :teeth: and some places serve the real thing. I also prefer brewed iced tea. Your best bet is probably to just ask at each place you eat.

seems to me the upper end sitdowns served brewed. we have never had a problem at those restaurants. :earboy2:

Thanks everyone!! I appreciate it! I've only made PS at sitdown restaurants, but in any case I will just have to ask I guess. If the response is Nestea, then I'll ask for hot tea and a big glass of ice....that is what I had to do on the cruise last fall or drink water...except the drink station on the Magic did have Diet Sprite which isn't too bad. I just can't seem to get Diet Coke past my lips for more than a couple sips.

Thanks again!

I can't stand the stuff...it is worse than the old instant tea from a jar!

Since being diagnosed as diabetic it's been a learning experience with beverages. Sometimes I haven't asked, "fresh brewed or nestea" and was very disappointed when served the latter. I've tried several of the diet sodas and can't find any that are very appealing and those that are okay are the less common ones that most restaurants don't serve like Diet Sprite so I tend to go with brewed iced tea with lemon and Minute Maid Light Lemonade...it's not too bad. I plan to take my own instant tea...those Crystal Light kind in the individual bottle water size...for using around the park or at the resort, but don't want to use those at a restaurant.

I guess my best bet is the ask for hot tea and a big glass of ice approach...can't miss with that.

had the fresh brewed ice tea and he was happy........I do like the raspberry iced tea for a different taste.

I agree that most of the sitdown restaurants have very good ice tea. Love it! :sunny:

This is another "I learn something new on the DIS every week" thread for me. Thanks for letting me know how many places have fresh-brewed ice tea. :cool1:

I drank the unsweetened ice tea everywhere we ate except for counter service, and I never had a problem. I'm a pretty picky tea drinker.

We discovered the crystal light singles packs on our last trip. They are wonderful! Doesn't save you any money, with a bottle of water costing the same as a soda, but hey, you get a bit more variety. DW doesn't like tea, and neither of us are big diet coke fans. Didn't leave us with many choices. Also, walmart (and probably other stores) usually have store-brand singles if you don't want to pay the full price for the crystal light brand.

If you are making any PS's just be sure to tell the CM that you are diabetic but do not like diet soda and since you cannot drink regular soda that is loaded with sugar can you have the option of unsweetened [freash brewed] tea. Disney dining does go out of it's way for special dietary needs, you may be pleasantly surprised.

I'm real funny about tea, I don't recall ever getting Nestea but I usually only order tea at sit-down. Most places we eat have brewed iced tea. I would just ask before you order it. When we went in October, it seems like most sit-down restaurants offered Sweet n Low, Equal & Splenda. I remember packing Splenda from home and hardly ever using it. I don't know if you care about that but thought I'd pass it along.

Thanks again! I hadn't even considered speaking with a CM at PS when I called...I will do that, but may be okay since as it stands all of our PS are at sit-down restaurants.

As for the Crystal Light ToGo...yeah, I have found that is a good alternative...I actually buy the Great Value stuff at WalllyWorld...cheaper and tastes fine. I do plan to take it with me since it's so small...will probably use it at the resort, in room.

I appreciate the info about many places having Splenda now...I prefer it over the pink or the blue stuff, but for iced tea, I do fine with just lemon. But it is good to know that Splenda is available.

Thanks again! I know I can always count on my DIS family to give me the answers.
