I sent my wonderful Costa sunglasses in for repairs last week. I loved these sunglasses and waited a long time to send them in cause I could not bear to be without them. I wear them every day. Well I get an email from Costa saying they have been discontinued. I emailed them as instructed and plan to call tomorrow. I think they ought to at least give me a good discount on some new ones. These were only 2 years old and they came with a lifetime guarantee.

If I don't go with Costa what is another good brand of polarized sunglasses? I don't mind spending a little money on them because I have found I will take care of expensive sunglasses. I love the Costas but now am a little nervous about buying them again. I am going to wait and see what they say but I am thinking I am SOL.

I second Maui Jims! I have 2 pairs - one I've had for 12 years now. I love, love, love them!

Maui Jim all the way. Their customer service is great, too.

My first pair ended up in the hands of my (then) 2 year old daughter and she snapped the arm off. They replaced the arm (nominal fee).

Then, *I* managed to snap the other arm off (stupidly, too). Sent them back and that style was discontinued but they offered another pair that was quite similar at a discount. Sold!

Lost a pair in the ocean (another duh me) and bought a new pair ASAP.

Love them. They are worth the price.

FYI - I have a visa card that gives me 'extra cash' and Maui Jims are on their list of items to use the extra cash. I've gotten a discount of up to $100 doing this.

Hubby is now sold on them as I purchased a pair for him for his bday this past year.

I was not familar with Costa, so I looked them up. :scared1:

They cost more than my Progressive eyeglasses did.:scared1::eek::scared1::eek::scared1::eek:

I have both, costas with the 580 lens and MJs with the hcl glass lens. I prefer the MJs and the costas are in the closet collecting dust. I really wanted to love the costas but the MJs are far superior.

Hey,
I work with Costa and saw your post about a discontinued repair. Can you PM me your RI#? You should have been offered another style at discount, so I want to make sure that was communicated. I would say you could email it to me, but I can't put an email in this post until I've had a count of 10 or greater. :)
Thanks!
Laurie

Maui Jim are my favorite too! I bought Oakley, but they do not block the glare like the Maui's. I got a pair of Coach for Christmas, they are fashionable but not practical.

I would try Maui Jim.

I've had my Maui Jims for over 3 years now. I treat them like crap and they still look new.

Anything Oakley. I've been using them for years. Durable, very customizable, and many styles to choose from.

I have a pair of Flak Jackets that I use for everything from Motorcycling, to swimming. They are nearly unbreakable, and also have user replaceable lenses should something happen to them.

I also love my Crosshairs, which are more traditional pilot style glasses, wire frame etc. Almost all models of Oakley are available as polarized or regular, so a good choice there.

Really, check out www.oakley.com - you might really like what you find.

You can get Maui Jim at Costco. Much cheaper than other stores. I love the lenses on my MJ, but they leave an awful mark on the bridge of my nose; worse than any other pair I've ever worn.

Although I imagine the prices to be MUCH better at Costco, this is where they send their discontinued styles. OP might circle back to where she started if something happens to her MJs like the original pair.
