DH and I are well overdo for a grown up only trip (this will be the 3rd time ever that my 3yr old has stayed the night somewhere but we have been told we need to have couples time to reconnect and enjoy spending just us time) and I am trying to plan a small getaway for March..We will be going for a Fr-Sun style trip (leaving very very early Fri morning) it would be the second weekend and weather can still be a little iffy then so I figured I would get insight on here!! Up for decisions are the following:

Washington DC (about 5 1/2 hr drive)
Charleston SC (about 4 1/2 hr drive)
Atlanta GA (a little over 5 hr drive)

I need to keep it budget friendly since we are going to take a major Disney trip in November..so I would like to keep everything under $500..Hotel recommendations are also welcomed as I would have no clue where to book!! I don't really want to make set in stone just kind of enjoy whatever we find to get in to!

Of the choices you listed I would pick Charleston. Admittedly, I have never been....but the old southern charm and the historic hotels and B&B;s in the area just scream romance to me!

DC would be fun, but lodging there can be quite expensive. Although there are many tourist destinations that are free which could offset the cost. DC just doesn't seem as charming and romantic to me as Charleston or Savannah would be though.

Have fun wherever you go. My DH and try to do one weekend getaway a year (even if it just a free room we get at one of the Indiana river casinos) just to spend a little alone time together. It is really nice to just relax and enjoy each others company! :goodvibes

I would also choose Charleston or Atlanta. The weather will likely be better there, it's not uncommon to still have snow on the ground in March in the DC area. Also as a PP mentioned hotels in/near DC can be pricey.

Enjoy your trip, wherever you decide to go. My partner & I are looking forward to DD being old enough to leave with grandma for a few days so we can have some alone time. :)

Yeah I was definitely worried a bit about the weather..last year we were supposed to go to DC as a family around the same time and had to switch to the beach bc of snow..Charleston does have ALOT of southern charm which I love..just need to figure out what there is to do there and good places to stay..it will definitely be a different adventure leaving both kids bc we always have DD with us but I know it will be good for us..
