I need some current advice from you all. I have been to WDW over 20 times since 1978 and have stayed at many different places over the years including Polynesian, CBR and Wyndham Palace(stayed here the most times!). I can't seem to get a good rate this time at the "Palace" so am considering staying on property.

Some friends rave about the All Stars, but I'm not sure they are for me. Another just returned from AKL. I'm considering PO, CBR, Yacht or Beach clubs or the Boardwalk.

Any suggestions would help.

Thanks!

That is hard to answer without more details. The resorts you have mentioned cover a wide range of prices as well as what they offer. What are you looking for? Is price an issue? What park(s) will you be visiting most? How many in your party?

We are big fans of the Yacht Club and Beach Club but when we compare the prices we always go back to the PO-FQ. But, if price and a food court weren't an issue (I hate to spend a lot of money on a room we don't spend much time in) we would probably go to the YC/BC.

We like PO-FQ (max. of 4 people per room) because it is the smallest of the moderate resorts. Everything is close. Transportation is good. FQ is the first stop to get on the bus and the first one to get off. Nice in the evening when you are tired. The rooms are ample - 314 sq feet. Two double beds, unless you get a king, a table, two chairs, etc. Double sinks in the bathroom area with a separate room for the toilet/shower area. There is not a "formal closet" but instead a long closet rack for clothes by the pedestal sinks. You can request a hair dryer, iron, ironing board to have for your stay. Rent a frig for $10 per night and you can also get a coffeemaker (you need to provide your own filter/coffee, though). The boat to DTD which starts the end of May, again, is also a nice touch. Pool is nicely themed with a pool bar. Small jacuzzi in the pool area. Lots of courtyards and open space. Beautiful landscaping.

The All Stars while great for many just isn't our "cup of tea." But for a value resort, most books rate it as being a great value in regards to the cost of the rooms and what you get.

IMO, the best way to get a great price on the property is to be an annual passholder. Keep checking the passholder rate as the trip grows closer. Essentially, on average, I have saved more than the price of my wife's and my annual pass. We just got back from the Poly, and paid $195/night AFTER taxes. We find this is the norm more than the exception. GOOD LUCK!

If it's within your budget, I'd pick the Boardwalk. The location is perfect if you enjoy Epcot and MGM (as we do) as they are both a short walk away (8 mins to EPCOT, 20 to MGM). The bus ride to MK and AK isn't bad either. You are very near the BC/YC, Swan, Dolphin so you have alot of restaurant choices as well. And I think the Boardwalk Villas are little cheaper than BC/YC.

Enjoy your stay, wherever you decide!!!

Thanks for the suggestions!

I think your enjoyment of any resort is directly related to what your expectations are going in.

My expectations were high before going to POFQ and I was very disapointed. I was a bit hesitant about ASMo and loved it.

I am a resort snob and I know it. Give me concierge any time or at least give me the chance to be upgraded to it!

Have fun making your choice. You might go to the library and check out one of the many books that gives descriptions of all the hotels. This site and wdwig.com have wonderful information about all the hotels.
