So, next year we may be going to California, and I'm trying to plan our trip but I'm not really familiar w/the area. We have pretty much our itinerary of what we want to do, but not sure where to stay. We have 2 hotels planned - one on Laguna Beach, then the Grand Californian. We don't really want to make this just a disney trip though, so we may want to try a 3rd hotel. Not sure where. Maybe around Beverly Hills? Does anyone have any suggestions for some nice hotels, maybe around Beverly Hills or we're open to other suggestions. We'll be traveling w/our DDs aged 5 and 3 then, so we want something somewhat kid friendly. Thanks!

Are you planning on staying in just the LA area? If not, you can travel down to San Diego and visit Legoland, SD Wild Animal Park, SD Zoo. SD is just an 2 hour drive south of LA. Your kids are at the perfect age for Legoland too. They will have a blast.

I've never stayed here but this one appealed to me a lot when we went to California: http://www.loewshotels.com/hotels/losangeles/ I'm real fond of the Loew's hotels though! There's also one in Beverly Hills from what I understand.

We stayed in the Loews Santa Monica with our family and loved it. It is in an excellent location. We've also stayed at the Hyatt Huntington Beach for two vacations and loved it as well.

Actually, we are planning on Legoland! Going to stay at the Ritz Carlton in Laguna for 2 nights, 1 day at the beach, 1 day at Legoland. Then go to Universal, Bev Hills, Hollywood. Thats where we may need another hotel. Then go to Disneyland, at Grand Californian. So far, thats our plan.

There is a Four Seasons Hotel in BH and also one in Marina Del Rey. There is also the Beverly Hills Hotel. Park Hyatt in Century City is really nice. Century Plaza Hotel is also in Century City.

No kids, but we stayed at the Hollywood Celebrity Hotel. It was right behind the Chinese Theater, so it was a very short subway ride to Universal and you are seconds away from a lot of the sites. I found the hotel to be simple and very clean, well worth the $100/night we spent. The parking lot was small, but even if it was full, the hotel would comp your parking at another lot not too far away.
