We are thinking of going to WDW in Sept (will definitely go if they have Free Dining again! :cool1: ). It will be me, DH, DD8, and DD10 (she turns 11 on 9/15). We went to WDW in 2005 (our first rip with the kids) and 2006, did not go last year. This will probably be our last trip for several years - don't want to take DD's out of school once the oldest gets to junior high (and we can't go during summer or school breaks), plus we want to buy a house in the next year or two - don't think we'll have enough $ for WDW after that.:rotfl:
My question is . . . What do we HAVE to do if this is our last trip for quite a while? A have a few things I want to try, and some that I've done before that are a definite must for this trip:

Fantasmic - saw it in 2006, I think it's the best show at WDW!
Le Cellier - ate there in 2006 after reading reviews on Disboards, now my favorite restaurant :thumbsup2
Dole Whips - might try a float this time
Hall of Presidents - have not seen this yet, I've been to WDW a total of 4 times
Spectromagic - haven't seen it yet, always seem to miss it when we're there
Tinkerbell - seen Wishes but haven't seen Tink fly yet
Chef Mickeys - DDs love this restaurant
50's Primetime - I'm dying to try this one
Whispering Canyon - loved it last time, so much fun!
Turtle Talk - both DD's (and me) loved this

We will be doing all the "major" rides; DD8 is a little daredevil, will go on anything with me - all the rollercoasters and "scary" rides that DH and DD10 won't go on. What are some of the other rides and attractions we should see? I'm looking for ideas on anything - rides, shows, restaurants, etc. Even little things like the talking palm tree outside of AK.

I love getting to the water parks for opening (8am for EMH). We did this a few days last holiday at WDW. The first family in line got to be surf captain (not quite sure of the name) at TL and ski captain at BB. The kids were like mini celebs! We love sliding while its quiet and making the most of the lazy river before it gets crowded. We usually leave around 11am as we are both very fair skinned and burn even wearing factor 50! The mini golf at BB is also good fun.

Ride up front on the monorail if you can you get to see so much more, just ask the CM at the gate.

DON'T do disney quest on a wet day - everyone alse has the same idea! Go on a dry day and its much quieter. We went to the cinema at DTD on a wet day which we enjoyed.

Walk the forest and jungle trails at AK, and take your time. Much of it is shaded and out of the sun. The CM's are full of knowledge about the animals and I loved it. There is also a nice not too long walk from Wilderness Lodge to Fort Wilderness that we did and enjoyed. We saw a deer stood munching about 10 yards away from us.

We did all this and a lot more on our last trip to WDW, we took time out to relax and do a few different things as well as just rides and shows.

We had a family reunion last August and we did the Illuminations cruise at Epcot. It was really great. I would spring for that again if I could.

indiana jones at mgm!
haha its something you never think of but it suddenly pops into mind when 2 six year olds are crying to get out of the heat and a 13 year old putting on the attitude.
ahh, air conditioned bliss.

Have you thought of doing one of the special tours? The Family Magic Tour at MK starts at 10 a.m. and lasts 2 hours - the cost is $25/person. It's kind of like a treasure hunt with a special surprise at the end.

Mickey's Magical Milestones is another nice tour but you have to be at least 10 years old to do it...so that won't work for your DD who is 8.

The Family Magic tour sounds like fun. I want to do something a little differernt this time, so this might be just the thing; we haven't done any of the tours yet. I'm also thinking about doing the Behind the Seeds tour; both of my DD's love the Living with the Land ride.

50's prime time is a must-do for all of our trips.........THE BEST FRIED CHICKEN ANYWHERE!!!!!!!!! It is crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside and just perfect! I would normally never order fried chicken in a restaurant but after reading about it on a thread years ago, I am glad I listened!!!! The pot roast is a 2nd runner up.......very tender and flavorful. The pasta here stinks!
For dessert, we love the platter of s'mores.......gooey deliciousness!
The entertainment of MOM and the aunts and uncles and cousins can't be beat either..........such fun! my elbows were seen on the table and I had to hold a sugar packet against the wall with my nose for punishment in front of the whole restaurant...my children loved it and never have forgotten it!
Kids of all ages will love it! I highly suggest calling for a priority seating reservation, this is a popular place!

its a recommended age not a minimum age. Ill be taking my 2 year old in august.
