Hello!
I am having a Lilo and Stitch bday party for my DD. She is turning 3!
Anyway, I was wondering if anyone had suggestions for hawaiiany food items?
We will serve dinner as the party is at 5 pm. There will be lots more adults than kids there.
I know I am going to have some type if fun fruity drink, and a fruit salad.
We are wearing grass skirts and giving leis as the guests arrive.
Any other suggestions would be great!!
Thanks!

Find a recipe for meatballs with sauce that contains pineapple. I have had them before but don't know the recipe. Also terriyaki works well with hawaiian themes.

As for desserts, you can have banana bread, and at luaus here, there are sliced bananas that has a touch of cinnamon then mixed together or if you have papayas, you can have slices of those on a platter.

Teriyaki items would be good and you can try and see if these items would be things that you would be interested in-lomi lomi salmon, chicken long rice, kalua pig, lau lau, poke, and purple sweet potato.

Do you know what haupia is? That is also served at Hawaiian parties here.

No one has mentioned the music-It must be Elvis Presley!!

Thanks for the ideas and the link!!
Mommytotwo, no I dont know what haupia is, please do share!!

And shortbun, I have the Lilo and stitch soundtrack, which as you may know is mostly elvis songs!:D

Thanks again for the ideas!

Maci, here's the haupia recipe, it's a coconut dessert.

Haupia-

1 can (12 oz) frozen coconut milk, thawed
5 tablespoons sugar
5 tablespoons cornstarch
1 1/2 cups water (I have made a notation to try milk next time)

Put coconut milk into a saucepan and bring to a boil on low heat. In a bowl, combine sugar and cornstarch. Add water; blending well. Add cornstarch mixture to coconut milk. Stirring frequently with a whisk, cook over medium heat until mixture thickens. Continue cooking until mixture starts to get translucent, and leaves the sides of the pan.

Pour into an 8 x 8 inch pan. Chill until firm. Cut into 2 inch squares. Makes 16 servings.
