Just like to know any books about Ghost stories, just good old fashion spooky/mystery not horror or gore. Something that maybe my DS(10) & I can read together or myself alone.

You might see if you can find some books about local ghost stories. I've found that either historical societies or local bookstores will usually have info on those books.

My DD loves "The Old Willis Place" by Mary Dowling Hahn

my DD loves nancy drew and the hardy boys. i think she's read all of the nancy drew books, lol. when i was a girl, i loved encyclopedia brown, but we don't have many of those books at my local library.

The old Goosebump books were funny. If you don't remember them, they were all sort of short ghost stories. Not too scary, but they were a hit at slumber parties back when I was a kid.

Maybe not for your son, but for you... Ghost Huntress by Marley Gibson.

From Amazon's website:
In this first book in the Ghost Huntress series, a move from downtown Chicago to small-town Radisson, Ga., brings about a psychic awakening for 16-year old Kendall, as spirits that roam her house and town recognize her ability to see them and clamor for her attention. Initially seeking rational explanations for these unsettling experiences, Kendall gradually accepts her psychic powers as a divine gift, believing God has called her to free trapped spirits. Honing her skills under the guidance of Loreen, who runs a New Age store in town, Kendall assembles an eclectic ghost-hunting team: Celia, the brainy techno-wizard; preppy photographer Taylor; and punk Becca, sound analyst. Obstacles arise when Kendall's loving, fundamentalist mother, who equates paranormal activity with devil worship, worries about Kendall's mental and spiritual health; later, Kendall's budding romance with Taylor's sexy brother threatens the girls' unity. Kendall's witty narrative voice (she quotes Shakespeare and Ugly Betty with equal aplomb) drives this fast-paced, wholesome-with-an-edge tale. Several unsolved mysteries will leave readers eager for the next installment. Ages 12-up.

If your son were to get into it, she also put out a book called The Other Side, which is about ghost hunting for teens. It might be interesting.

Marley came and spoke at our school in January. She brought Patrick Burns from the TV show Haunting Evidence with her. (They might be a couple...she indicated they were...he kinda gave her looks like uh...no!)

Anyway, it's an intersting series of books. :)

Scary Stories To Tell in the Dark. It's a whole series of books based on American folklore. Growing up, I loved these books, but they scared the bejeebies out of me:scared1: Here's a link I found for them.

Oh my god, that is totally what I meant in my post! Haha, for some reason I thought they were called Goosebumps, but that was some other book series. Yes, this is what we read at slumber parties...or we would watch that Nickelodeon show "Are You Afraid of the Dark."

That is a good suggestion. I have a few ghost story books about my state that aren't gory or anything and for the most part would be ok for kids.

I looked up ghost stories Pittsburgh on amazon and came up with this
http://www.amazon.com/Ghost-Stories...=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1279064446&sr=8-1

OP maybe check this book out

There are a few "Haunted Ohio" books that are really good and include a lot of history in them too. I'm sure Pittsburgh has something like this. My kids liked to visit the places after they read about them and as they got older (driving), take their freinds and tell the story to them. The history aspect makes it so much fun.

I second the vote for Mary Downing Hahn books! My DD 10 and I have read several together (The Old Willis Place, Wait for Helen, All The Young Lovely Ones etc) and we really like them. They are just the right amount of spooky for her and adult enough for me! She has other books that are more "murder mystery" types which we haven't read yet but I definitely recommend her ghost stories. :thumbsup2
