I could not get a FP+ for this ride. Is my best chance to not wait forever be to at opening and head right there as my first ride? I will be there on a Sunday with late EMH the night before so hoping this might help.

If you're there early and near the front, or can walk fast, then it's easy to ride with minimal wait at park opening. If not, then wait until night. The lines go down significantly at night regardless of what the wait time says. We were there last month and got in line around 9:30pm with a posted wait time of 75 min. I timed it and we were on in 30 min and riding during Wishes which was great

I find the ride to be a lot better at night, so I'd wait

We got there at rope drop and were able to get on fairly quickly. But we got there about an hour before rope drop and queued up at one of the two ropes. This was this past Wed.

I went 2 weeks ago, didn't have FP, it was AM EMH, & we were delayed getting on 7DMT. So we got in line at about 30 min into EMH, & was off the ride in 30 min. I'd do 1st thing if I were you, then try again later, at night.

I read the reply about making it an hour before rope drop. That works for a lot of folks. But to me, an hour waiting is an hour waiting, whether it is for rope drop or the ride. We did rope drop (once) for TSM during spring break 2years ago and I was so frazzled by rushing to get there and then fighting the crowds that I would never do rope drop with one specific make or break attraction like that again. Too stressful. Now, getting to rope drop and heading toward BIg Thunder and Splash and Pirates, or the other way to Space and Buzz, that might be fun. But the rush to A & E or SDMT sounds stressful.

We rode 7D twice in about a half hour at 11:30 pm early this summer.

The posted wait time was 80 minutes, but the actual wait was 20 the first time and 10 for the 2nd trip.

This may be a more efficient use of time than arriving an hour before opening just to ride once.

It's all in the person..but I found it really cool to travel in a horde of people all with the same mindset..especially when the CMs took over and escorted us all to the attraction.

You could always just wait in line, the queue is unique and you don't have to arrive an hour prior to RD than fight to get to the attraction.

We just did normal rope drop, didn't get there way early or anything. I think we waited about 40-50 minutes which is fine for a new ride. It was a low-crowd day though. It was fine, we didn't mind the wait, I liked looking at everything. I would never wait that long for it again but it was worth it for the first ride.

We did rope drop on the 29th. I had no desire to rush, but sent the two teens with me ahead. We didn't get there really early, just regular 20 min early to get through bag check and the gate before park opening. We were a little later than I like for that even, the morning opening show was already going on when we arrived. The ride photo of the teens riding is time stamped 908 am.
We were lucky that later that day there was actually a FP for 5 people at magically had opened up, so I grabbed that one for that evening, so we all got to ride. And, again, there was a FP for our 2nd day there when I was moving around FPs the day before, so got that one too, so no more rushing.
Especially if your party is small (or break it up into smaller groups to check), you may be able to grab a FP and not have to do the AM rope drop rush.

When is your trip? I'd keep trying for a FP. I got one when my date opened up, but I keep looking for a later time. I've seen earlier times open here and there. Don't give up just yet. :goodvibes

We waited until the park was about to close to ride 7DMT standby. MK was open until 1:30am and we got in line at about 1:20 and queued as everything was closing - that way we didn't miss any valuable park time :goodvibes ...But we were really tired, I would suggest using that strategy on a night MK closes a little earlier :rotfl:
