I am excited to have booked a room at SSR for the first time. We are hoping that DH will be able to go on this trip, but he has medical issues that mean he can do limited walking. He refuses to use a scooter. We will not visit parks much and will probably drive when we do. I have looked at a map of SSR and tried to figure out which area would be best for him. Will the Springs area be the best one for having access to Artist's Palette, boat to DTD and the pool? Is the parking in this section about as close to the rooms as any other section? Any other considerations? TIA for any advice.

The Springs will be the closest. There are only 2 bldgs in the Springs and the parking is close.

We extended our stay by 1 night last month and moved from Congress Park to a HA studio in the Springs. We were on the first floor of the bldg closest to the bus stop and it was extremely close to the main pool area. The boys enjoyed being right across the street from everything.

A consideration is, there is an elevator in the spa bldg that you can use to get to the AP area. You can also access AP by crossing at the main bus stop and taking the sidewalk. Most people try to cut through the pool area (which is fine) but then you have to take the steps up to AP which may be a little more strenuous.

There is a ramp out of the pool area by the zero entry side.

Thanks, Liferbabe. I really have no clue about the layout of SSR and I have no sense of direction. If there are only 2 buildings in the Springs section, we may not be lucky enough to get there. I guess that I would hope for Grandstand as a second choice.

Just one more thing to consider.....

I believe (someone correct me if I am wrong) the Springs is the last stop on the bus route. This may be a problem when trying to get a seat. You may have to stand. In some cases I have heard buses were filled and many guests had to wait for another bus.

At the Grandstand you are the first bus stop and you are fairly close to check-in, AP, TC and main pool.

The Grandstand also has a themed pool with its own pool bar too.

Recently stayed in the Grandstand section and loved it.

One thing to consider with this area is the walk to AP and the main pool area. Even though the walk was not too long. There is an uphill section after you leave the Grandstand pool area and approach the checkin parking/ bell services area. Not steep but not flat either.

Great thread! We'll be staying at SSR with a family member who has limited mobility as well so these comments are very helpful for us!

Very helpful! Can I get a Bell Services person to move our Owner's Locker from check-in area to our room? Are there luggage carts near elevators?

No luggage carts, but bell services will move for you. Last month when we were ready to leave, we loaded up the car and called Bell Serv. to come get the locker. They sent someone over and my locker made it home before we did!:goodvibes
