Hi everyone! I'm currently doing a research paper on ride safety and i'm using a few references to the WDW resort. I just need a few people to verify a few things.

1. Space Mountain WDW, originally opened with strap restraints not with lap bars?

2. Splash Mountain Disneyland now has lapbars?

And if anyone can think of any ride modificaitons that have been put in place to increase "ride safety" i'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

When we were in DL in August, there were no lap bars on Splash Mountain. I know there have never been lap bars on Splash Mountain in WDW...

No, no lap bars on DL's Splash. It's single file with indiviual seats. No room for a lap bar.

Space Mountain in WDW- I am not sure about when it opened but as a child in the 80's they had a long bench seat and 2-3 poeple would sit on it and put a strap around themselves.

Splash at WDW has no lap bar, but then I haven't seen a flume ride of that type have one anywhere I have been.

I don't remember what kind of restraints they had on Space Mtn but I do remember riding it as a child in the 70s or 80s (?) w/ my grandfather. The cars then allowed about 2 people to ride in one car ... the front rider rode between the back rider's legs.
