Need Some Tech Help With This Board

Okay, I've been to the tech board already to look for help on why I cannot post smilies. The "Smilie" post I want to look at won't load for me past the first two posts.

So, I've been posting all day without smilies and I'm sure I must sound mean.

NEXT, there are some threads that just won't load for me. The "smilie" thread is one of them. The other one is Charade's thread regarding getting a stomach virus over Christmas. I can't see past the first two posts and then the whole board "hangs up" and I have to shut down to look at anything else. I've had this happen periodically. What causes this?

The only thing I can think of is - too many people using the board at the same time

A lot of us had the problem with the Smiley's not working. I was able to use them this morning for the first time since the upgrade. I've also noticed that threads are loading up slower. And I'm still having the same problem prior to the upgrade where threads are locking up on loading (even the back button won't work).

But the newest problem I'm seeing is that my replies are also locking up on posting. I'll click on the stop button then try to repost and get a message that it's a double post (btw, it's a nice feature). But why the lag in posting ?

Yes, this is what is happening to me today. Honestly, the board doesn't seem that busy to me today. I've had the threads lock up while loading before--just seems particularly bad today on just a few threads. Other people seem to be reading them just fine.

I still cannot use a smilie.

Since the upgrade, I'm having smilie problems, too. And sometimes when I reply to a message and hit "submit reply" the computer gets stuck. I have to get out of everything but when I go back to check, my message is there. It is happening at home and on the office computer.

Prior to the upgrade, the morning and afternoon weren't that busy. But between 4 and 4:30 yesterday the server was so busy it took about 5 minutes or so before I could go anywhere on the DISboards.

Edited: Just thought of something. A lot of people are on vacation this week and are probably on here. I post from work (reception desk is that slow). Although that probably will be changing next week, I finally have a few things to do in the new year.

I haven't posted any new threads yet, so I wouldn't know about any problems with it. Just with those that I have mentioned previously.

Well, I've discovered that I can use smilies here at home but not on my computer at work.

Since the upgrade, sometimes when I click on a post to read it just gets stuck and I eventually have to get out of Explorer and back in to get it to work. Never had this problem before.

Me too. I even tried turning off the anti-virus and the firewall and all the usual "tricks" - nothing works. I hope it gets resolved soon - I don't like to come off as a jerk - those smilies save me most of the time.

Yep, but I find that my reply has still posted.

That is the one problem I've had prior to the upgrade and still have. The only thing I can think of is that the volume is up due to vacations this week.

Do most of you stay logged in or do you log in/out each time? I usually stay logged in. When the Smileys weren't working, I thought I might need to log out then back in for any changes to take place. At first the Smiley's didn't work, but then I found out yesterday morning that they were working.

I have no idea if logging in/out helped or not

You need to clear your "cookies" in your browser. I had the same problems:
could not change color "theme" or use smilies....reset private data (cookies, cache, etc)...works fine now.

I noticed I got a message regarding the cookies when I logged off then on again yesterday. So, it looks like that was the trick then. Thanks!

Hey, thanks!! I just cleared my cookies and deleted history and now I got a smilie to work!
