Need some support china pattern was discontinued

Hello-
Over the weekend I was checking my registry at Dillards- my waterford seahorse china was not showing up, so after investigating they called today and informed me that in MAY it was discontinued - I almost cried, I have already received one place settting and the crystal seahorse candles. Actually I did cry when I got off the phone.

I did get on the Waterford website and the pattern is still listed, so I am now wondering if the store Dillards is not carrying the pattern any longer, rather than it will not be made any longer. Our Famous Barr/Macys has it listed, so do I completely dump my registry at Dillards and register at Famous? I am ticked that it is August, less than a month before my shower and had I not caught this, we would have had a problem. I may just tell them I am pulling my registry--- I just loved the sales clerk saying, well you can come in a pick a different pattern. YEAH RIGHT!!!! UGH! I realize it is a mistake, but I am fuming- Not to mention that I had my fiance at the ER last night with numbness in his hands and feet, his blood pressure was 157/120 at one point, so I was there from midnight until 5am, so needless to say I am losing my mind-

I'm so sorry you're having a bad day. I hope by now your fiance is feeling better.

As to your china pattern, how annoying! Did the store clerk for sure say it was cancelled? You could double check with the manufacturer. Either way, I would definitely register for it again at Macy's (not familiar with the other store). It might be a good idea to call both stores and ask them if the pattern is being discontinued (or if they plan on having the pattern through your wedding date) and then choose the one that's most convenient for you and your guests.

Email Waterford's customer service directly. They guarantee all place settings of china for 10 years atleast and then if you have registered any settings with them they will allow you to purchase direct if it is discontinued.

I'm hoping that it's just Dillards changing their registry!

How about leaving it on your registry at Dillards and adding a registry at Macys? If people can't get it at Dillards, they can head over to Macy's. I'm surprised that Dillards doesn't have stock remaining. Good Luck.

Yeah, lot of people register at several different places, I don't think this is a problem at all.

If you can't find it there, there is a place called Replacments LTD that is in Greensboro, NC and they have all kinds of china petterns that have been discountinued. They do have a registry I believe and they ship all over the world. If you can't find it anywhere else you can probably find it there... They do have a website...

I also think the Dillards should have called you when they knew the pattern was being discontinued - at the very least by May- not left you to find this out on your own. Poor customer service.

My experience with Replacements is that they have an astonishing
variety, but very high prices. You're better getting them from an
original source (dept. store, manufacturer) if at all possible.

In other cases, though, Replacements has been a lifesaver. We found
a pattern not made for 40 years (my mom's).

Replacements LTD is very near my home, and I've used them before. They can generally find any pattern you're looking for, but you've gotta be willing to pay for it!

Thanks- I did call waterfrod directly and it is not on the discontined list- I wonder why Dillards can not order for me if they are still carrying other waterford china patterns- In fact the waterford customer service person sounded annoyed that Dillards told me it was discontinued rather than they are no longer carrying the pattern. I kind of feel that if I had to discover that on my own, why do I want to stay with them? I am registered at Target and Crate and Barrel, Dillards and Famous (macy's) are so similar that there is really no reason to keep my stuff at Dillards and I am afraid because Dillards is in my town, Famous in 15 min away and I fear that people will not go to Famous if they can got to Dillards and I will not get any china- I am still so ticked because I have a shower in a month and if I had not found that......I do not even want to think about it-
Thanks for the help and I get regular emails for replacements- my problem is that a lot of my guests will not shop online

I had issues with Dillard's registry and ended up leaving them. I would recommend running far, far away, especially with the lying about the discontinuation.

I am SO there with you!

We went through the same thing with Lenox and Filene's here in Massachusetts, and we ended up picking a new pattern, as ours will be discontinued by Lenox in January of 2007. I was heartbroken - the one thing Bob and I had trouble agreeing on was the dishes (for us it was Swedish Garland, our everyday pattern) and we had to start from scratch. It took us months to find another and boy, was I gun shy when I registered for those!

I would suggest that you talk to other brides (ones you know or on the internet) before registering too much stuff with Famous/Macy's. I am one of the brides who had a TON (everything, come to think of it....) discontinued as Filene's became Macy's here.

We ended up scrapping our entire registry there - and our store now has very little in it that's not on clearance. It seems like they are moving out almost everything before they start adding too much new merchandise. It stinks - and I know many other brides in the same boat.

In the meantime, be sure and register directly with Waterford. That way your guests can order from them, too.

Our happy ending came at Mikasa - we registered at the outlet and on Mikasa.com and now everyone is getting GREAT deals!

Maybe Bed Bath and Beyond? The one near us started carrying crystal and china, etc and it is really nice...do you have one like that? They are so great--they even give you a bag, tissue paper and card to wrap your gift!
