Need some suggestions

I'm in zone 9 with pippin' hot summers. I'd like anyone's suggestions for tried and true ground cover for full sun. I've looked at plenty of websites, but I'd like to see what anyone suggests from personal experience. Thanks!

Sorry, I live in Zone 6, so it may not be so relevant, but creeping thyme, woolly thyme, red thyme, delosperma, sedum and sempervivum work in our hottest, dryest spots here.
