I have a lab final tomorrow in my anatomy class. We have a ton of muscles that we have to memorize (their origin, insertion, action and location). I was wondering if any of you helpful DISers had any good techniques for learning this kind of stuff. I've tried flash cards but they just dont seem to be working well. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! TIA :goodvibes

Different things work for different people. You could try saying the material aloud, writing or typing it, drawing the muscles. You could scan or copy the illustrations in your book, then white out the names of the muscles and make more copies. Then you could fill in the muscles with the appropriate names. Definitely spend less time surfing the internet and more time with your anatomy textbook. Some times you just have to do it the old-fashioned way and read the book.

Put it to music. "the leg bone is connected to the hip bone" kind of thing. Pick your favorite song, or something silly like "Old McDonald", anything that fits what you need to remember. Then when taking the test, just hum out your answer! If you have a lot of material, you can break it up into differant songs for differant areas, like one song for the leg and one for the arm.
