I had outpatient knee surgery to repair tears in my meniscus this morning. When it tore, it somehow folded back over itself--the equivalent of having a pea sized piece of gravel in my knee. It was causing me all sorts of pain in my knee and also it would shoot up and down my leg. I could not bend my knee and limped terribly. Couldn't sleep at night, couldn't sit long but also couldn't stand long--I was a mess! Couldn't do steps--thank goodness my school has an elevator. At home I went up at night and came down in the monring and that was it.

So I am out of commission until next Tuesday for sure, maybe til next Friday. So I have been busy making lesson plans for the days I will be gone from school and preparing the kids for it. I have workthrough Wednesday in folders and work for the extra two days if needed--a safety test for all, test for 8th grade, and simple labs for 9th graders and biology.

I will also need to have physical therapy 2 times a week for about 6 weeks! Just what I need to fit into ds fb games, my masters class, and mom's once a week dental appointment (new dentures)! Plus dh is traveling to Canada every week the next two months. Leaves on Monday and returns midday on Thursday.

I am hosting the card swap--for those wondering--will be posting it this weekend, probably monday or early tuesday. Will move due date back. Sorry to be late with this. Please go to the post angelmom started and add any thoughts you have for additional groups if you are interested in swapping. Last year we had some awesome cards!!

Okay, I am now exhausted. Don't tell my doctor I did this. I had to put money in ds lunch account or he wouldn't eat tomorrow, so thought I would slip over here as well. So will get ice bag and go lay down.

:wizard: Sending PD your way. Hope the healing is fast and uneventful. Sounds like you have piles on your plate! I know fitting in the therapy is tough, but it's really amazing the difference it made for me...

I hope I can sign up for the swap, I love making cards. The ones we got last time were so clever. I have to work Monday, so I might not be around when sign ups open :guilty:

Update

I got to take the bandage off today and take a shower--not soap or shampoo, but it did feel good! Made me very tired though. I have three little "holes" with stitches that I need to keep bandaged.

I am to try walking on it without crutches--well, I tried and it didn't go too good, so will wait on that awhile. About 4 a.m. this morning the pain really kicked in, so have been taking the pain pills every 4 hours and icing on the hour.

I go back to the dr on Tuesday, so will see what he says.

I am also blessed that a group I belong to is bringing us meals from last Thursday to Tuesday. My fellow teachers sent a plant with gift cards to places close by tucked in the plant! It is so nice to not have to worry about meals!

Thanks great that you have such a wonderful support system!!! :)
Continue to take it easy and just do what you can when you can!!!
Again many thoughts, prayers, and pixie dust being sent your way!!!

Don't over due it, be a good patient, take good care and here's a new dose of pixiedust:
