You may remember me saying I get too emotional for my own good over Ashley and his special needs, well I've got yet another meeting at 1.30 today with CASDAS (Communication and Social Development Assessment Service). In one way I'm excited about this as we've been waiting 18 months for this but nervous about getting the right help for him. Any spare pixie dust please send this way. Thanks, feeling good right now, hope it lasts.

:wizard: pixiedust: :tinker: :tink: Good luck, Wendy, hope it all goes well.

I think it went well! From my describing Ash the Ed Psyc feels he may not have Autistic Spectrum Disorder but complex Speech and Language problems which are being dealt with, but in some respects I'd like him to have a label as I believe his next school will be better able to deal with his problems if he has. We've got the rest of the summer to get together our concerns and list his problems before the next meeting. Unfortunately John couldn't get with me to the meeting, his input would have proved valuable as he sees things differently to me and would have mentioned a lot more than me, but its early days in his 'diagnosis' and we will have to make sure we spell out his problems clearly. On paper Ashleys grades and behaviour look good you need to meet and talk with him to realise the problems. Bit down about the meeting but I'll pick myself up and fight for his needs. Thanks for listening and the good wishes, you're all brill.

Wendy ~ By the sounds of it the meeting went ok. As you say it is early days.

Don't feel down ~ You are doing so well :)

i know how you feel my son has been under the ed psyc since he was in nursery he's just turned 7.I too feel i need a label for my son as he's going into ks2 in september like ash he has speech and language problems but his learning abilities are also behind. I went to see the headteacher at the last week of term to see what would be happening in september she advised me to put a letter of complaint into the school about the school and about how long he will be waiting for anything to be done this way(hopefully) he should be pushed along a bit quicker.Sorry to bore you about this but as your in the same position yourself hopefully you'll understand. Maybe this might be the same way for you to get something done coz at these meetings it seems like there going round in circles and just telling you what you want to hear but still nothing is being done about their problems and they slip that little bit further behind :confused3 sorry again
