Need some opinions on a Sept cruise????

I am trying to plan a 4 night cruise for 2006 - I need some advise as to whether I should book for september or not. The rates are unbelievable, but I am somewhat concerned about the weather. I know there are some very knowledgeable cruisers out here --- so, let me have it!!! I know that I would be getting the insurance, probably not through DCL. THANKS!

We cruised in Sept, 2 years ago..it was fantastic. As you already said yourself..the rates are excellent..you take the chance of weather, that is why the rates are so great. Definately get the insurance. No matter what insurance company you go through..talk with them directly and make sure what you are getting in coverage before you purchase it. You only have so many days after you book to get the insurance.

We cruise in September or October pretty much every year. Don't let September 2004 play too much of a role into your decision. Yes, it is the height of hurricane season, but to have so many storms hit the same place and be that distruptive was highly unusual.

I like to sail at this time of year for the prices, the weather (still warm, the days are still long), and the crowds (less than in the summer). We've been re-routed once and have sailed two other times when there were storms in the Caribbean, but not near our route. Each time, the seas we encountered were pretty tame and the weather was fine.

We're booked for Sept. 10 this year.

We cruised September last year, and were lucky to have sailed out between hurricanes. We were scheduled for a Western Carribean, and ended up to go on an Eastern modified instead. My feeling is that as long as you have insurance and go with an open mind that things may change, go for it. We did and had a blast.

Go for it! Just take out the insurance and know that if a hurricane is bearing down on us, your cruise could get canceled or changed. As long as you're okay with that fact, then you'll make out okay. This last hurricane season was extreme, hopefully we won't see anything like it in 2005.

We cruised last Sept with AmericanScrapper and like she said, even though we were disappointed that we were not going to make it to our scheduled stops, we kept an open mind and had a great time. I will say that the week before we sailed I was glued to the Weather Channel and had two different hurricane websites bookmarked. AND I was extremely happy that we had bought travel insurance. We have rebooked for October this year.

I have traveled twice in September on DCL and the weather was perfect. The ships arrived at all ports on time.

I did fly into Orlando on Sept 15, 2001, however. I had the option of canceling, but felt that stepping forward and getting on with life in the wake of Sept. 11 was the right thing to do.

This year a did a 4 day cruise in mid-Novemeber and we hit some rough weather on the way back to Port Canaveral. If you travel in the fall think of it as an adventure and accept that things may not go perfectly as planned and you will have a terrific time.

September is actually my favorite time for the cruise. We've done at least 4, (sorry, I lose track...we've done a total of 12 on the Magic, most in either Sept. or February, but some others). I like September because the weather is warm (but not as HOT as summer), and the rates are magical. We've only had trouble once. That was the 2004 hurricane season.

You do need to be flexible. We've had other sailings where the Magic went to alternative ports due to the positioning of hurricanes in the Atlantic. We had a wonderful 7day cruise....it just didn't go where it had been scheduled to go. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

My family & I went last September between the last two hurricanes. Mind you I live only about 20 miles north of where the first one hit and I was very worried. But it is Disney and not being able to go would have been worse than a little rough seas. The trip was rerouted with a day at sea first to avoid the coming storm then the rest of the trip went as scheduled. We even made it to Castaway Cay after the storm had been there. Disney was quick and everything was perfect. I did cruise in May of 2003 and had no sea sickness, but in Sept. with the weather rocking the boat I did feel pretty sick at night. Some people said they fell out of bed and the water in the pool crashed like waves out of it. It was pretty cool just remeber to bring your medicine and you'll be happy cruisers.
