For my birthday (coming up on Sunday) my Aunt, Uncle and Grandma got me a really nice jean jacket with a Mickey and Minnie embrodered on the back. They got it at TDS so some of you might have seen it. When I opened the gift they asked me to try it on. The jacket is my size but it did not button up. (I've had this problem all my life because, well as some of would say I am blessed up there  ) I said it does not button up and my Aunt said it's not suppose to that's the style. I did not want to hurt her feelings because I think it looks horrible on me. It does not fit good at all. I can't get a bigger size since unfourtanetly I have the biggest size it comes in. :( Then when my Uncle comes home, he wished me a Happy Birthday and asked how I liked the jacket and does it fit. I said I liked it. He says well let me see. I tried it on again, knowing that he WILL be honest with me. Well I was right he was. He said that it was not for me. OK long story short, just curious what others would do?

Keep it and it will fit me GREAT in a few months? or
Return it with the gift reciept and hope they don't find out? (I do see them at least once a week sometimes more so it might be hard to hide)
Thanks for any advice
:D

If you know that the jacket will fit you in a few months, then personally I'd keep it. How great will you feel when you put it on and you can button it up!!:hyper: It's a wonderful feeling when you try something on which had previously been too small, and it fits

I have to agree with Catherine, if you are losing weight, it will fit eventually, so I would keep it. You will avoid hurting your aunt and uncles feelings and you will have the satisfaction of seeing it fit you as you lose.

Happy Birthday!

if you like the jacket
and are losing weight then what a GREAT incentive to stick wth it
i would hang it where i could see it everyday

think of how great it will feel and look in a few months:D

A cool Mickey jacket? Believe me, you will be beaming with pride and show-offingness when you can wiggle with room in it! I have a Pooh warm up suit and it looks GREAT on me, but a year ago I would not have been able to fit my arm in the sleeve! If you can fit your arms, you'll be wearing that jacket with room by Fall!! It's time to pack away jackets here (in the South) so hang that puppy in your closet and think how proud your relatives will be when they see your smiling face wearing it in October! :)
You can do it!

I would definately keep the jacket and show off your new look as you lose the weight. That will double everyone's appreciation of the gift!

Another vote for keeping it! I have several pairs of "incentive" jeans. They're brand new & I bought them on such a good sale, but couldn't quite zip them up! I'm convinced they'll be perfect for summer!

Absolutely keep it!

It will be so much fun to wear when it fits, and it's great to have FUN clothes to look forward to being able to wear!

I have a denim jacket (not mickey) that I bought on the clearance rack at the Avenue about 8 years ago. It's got this wild early 60s diner scene on the back, outlined in sequins, and on the front it says Eat at Joes. It's an 18/20. When I got it I was a 22/24, wore it open, then ate myself up to a 26/28. I recently pulled it out for the nicer weather and it's a little too big on top (I'm bottom, not top heavy) but it fits and it's fun to wear.

I think you should keep it! Denim and Mickey NEVER go out of style, lol, and you'll love it when you get into it properly. Believe me, I know.

Another vote for keeping it. ::yes:: I have lots of incentive clothes in my closet. In fact when I'm shopping now I'm more likely than not buying clothes that are too small. I try them on every couple of weeks and it's so exciting when they fit. Before long it might even be too big!! :teeth:

Keep it and prance around with pride when it fits and post a picture of you and your beautiful new body in the jacket!!!

I was working TDS in Jan. when those puppies came in. At first I thought they were for kids. To get one that fit I would have to have bought an extra large and I am normally a medium. So when (not if) it fits you wear it with pride.

If you are planning on getting smaller, then keep it. It sounds so cute. It can be an incentive to keep you motivated :)
