We always take several board games with us on our annual beach vacation. We're looking for some recommendations. It will be 7 of us aged 9 to 54. We'll be taking along UNO Attack (youngest DS's favorite), checkers, Electronic Battleship and Jenga. We'd like to get a game that everyone can play at the same time. I'd love to hear what your family faves are.

Love, love, love board games.
A few of our favorites are the same since growing up Life, Sorry, Clue, Scrabble. One of our fav. more recent games is CRANIUM. While some of the questions may be advanced for kids (they do have a kids version) there are other categories that require you to sing/hum, act and even create with clay.
All the rest of my favorite are more theme focused on Movies (Scene It) or T.V. shows (Flashback) that aren't too kid friendly.
Good luck in your search....aside from Cranium, I'd say stick with the basics.

Disney has a trivia game that is similar to trivial pursuit. It's really fun.

Phase 10 is a card game that our family likes to play.

We love Monster, Inc. Life, Vampire Hunter (spooky at night!), card game Stone Soup, and good old fashion backgammon!

what about pictionary or charades? both are games that every one can play.

Taboo is good, same with Pictionary, Scrabble, Clue and regular non electronic Battleship...
Disney Uno is also a favorite. Monopoly is also a favorite.

We love Phase 10, Skip Bo, Sequence and Rummikub, to name a few.

We love Sequence and in fact, just played it tonight!

"Apples to Apples" is a really fun card game that everyone could play. We love to play there here!

Here's another favorite - it is a dice game called Left Right Center (or is it Right Left Center?). It is very easy to learn and you can play with tons of people.

When we go to the Beach we always bring our bocce balls with us. We play at low tide. It is so much fun for kids and adults!
If your not familiar with the game I can pm you and explain it to you. It always draws a huge spectator crowd, who are thinking why didn't I bring my balls LOL!!
You can buy bocce balls online if you don't have any. I've seen the set on Ebay for $20. A neighbor bought them at www.playaboule.com for $49...they came with a travel case.
They are a little heavy to lug, but well worth it.
As far as board games go Risk is a big crowd pleaser. It lasts for hours,....
we also like Catch Phrase..........this one is a little electronic charades (it's easy to travel with!). A LOT of people can play on teams. It's a little electronic board that gives you a word to act out and it has a time limit before you have to pass it to the next team...a lot of FUN! It even keeps score for you.

Have a GREAT time! What beach are you going to?

I almost forgot to add horseshoes or crochet those can be played on the beach, at low tide, too!

We always brought Yahtzee and a cribbage board with us when we went to the beach house. Boggle's also fun and pretty portable.

My adult children and grandchildren all love Dominoes. You can play a lot of different versions. Little children can play (MomMom plays the easy version with them). The adults are really competitive and the game can be really exciting.

Wow, thanks for all the great ideas! Looks like I have my shopping cut out for me. :bounce:
