Hi, were going to WDW in Orlando in April of 2005. We want to know if backsacks are prohibited inside the different theme parks. If not what is alowed, water bottle, plastic container etc........

Also we want to know if there is a inscription program for chilrdren age between 7 and 10 for security mathers.

Thanks in advance.

:earsboy: WELCOME to the DIS dantheman!! :earsboy:

Yes you can take backpacks into all the parks. There is a security check as you go in.They'll look through all the pockets of you backpack. It's pretty quick but if there is a crowd waiting to get in this can take a bit of time to get through. You can take water bottles in okay too.

a inscription program for chilrdren age between 7 and 10 for security mathers.

Sorry I can't help you with this because I'm not sure what you mean...I don't know what a inscription program is.

Hello dantheman, welcome to the DIS.

Inscription means to put ones name on something, such as a list. Are you asking if there is a list when you go into the parks to enter the child's name on? If that is what you are asking, I am afraid there is not. There are too many people going in to do that.

What I do for my daughter is make a dog tag with her daddy's cell phone number, his name and her name so that if she were to get separated from us (which would never happen, I am a freak about things like that), then there is a number for them to call and tell us where to find her.

When my daughter was little, we went to quest service and pick up an ID badge for her. It said her name, parent's name and phone number to reach us or resort name. We pin it to the back of her shirt and worked for us. Gotta remember that that was in the mid 80's, not sure if that would be safe now. Daughter was deaf so we needed something. Disney did give us the hint if we were separated from her to inform any cleaning crew CM. Finding them is sometimes easier than other CMs. They are also linked with walkies to mgt. They will close gates as soon as they hear lost child and description of child.

heard of id tags that you can buy and they attach to the child's shoe laces. Sounds like a better idea than what we did.

Wow, in less than 24 hours i have all the answers that i want. Thank's everybody, be sure that wen i get back from WDW i will give an update of all the theme parks.

What about backpacks and attractions like:

- "get-wet" Attractions
- Rock'n'Roller Coaster
- Hulk
- Duelling Dragons
- Mummy

Can you put your backpacks into free lockers just for the ride? And what about digitalcameras and camcorders while riding "get-wet" attractions... isn't that too dangerous for the cams? :rolleyes2

Thanks for your tips!

Most of those attraction that you mention- Hulk, Dueling Dragons, Mummy are at Universal Studios. I know that they do have free/cheap quick rental lockers at these rides. Other parks like Busch Gardens and Sea World do have rental lockers for backbacks, fanny/bum packs, cameras etc at each of the thrill or wet rides. Disney only has a couple of rides where you may get wet. River Rapids at AK does get you soaked but has a dry compartment in the center of the ride vehicle. Not very big so you may want to stash most of your things in a locker. You can fit a purse or two in the center. I bring plastic bags - ziplock type to put my camera, phone or items i don't want to get wet in my waistpack. I don't remember seeing lockers need RNR. Gave everything for Hubbie to hold. Maybe someone else can remember. I am usually the hat/backback/bag offical holders for roller coasters.

Have fun

Hulk, Dueling Dragons, Jurassic Park River Adventure, and MIB have the free electronic lockers outside; they are free up to 30 minutes. I haven't been to USF since the Mummy opened so I don't know if it has lockers, but it probably does.

Disney mostly only has lockers at the park gates, so it's often very inconvenient to temporarily stash your stuff. I carry a gallon-size Ziploc with me to cover my camera during rain or water rides; this will work for small camcorders, too. Other stuff I have with me

Rock and Roller Coaster is easy. There is plenty of room to put a small backpack between your feet on the ride.
