Hi,
This is our family first trip to Walt Disney World at Christmas...We explain to the kids that going to Walt Disney World was their Christmas gift but i still feel that we should have some thing for them on christmas day under the small tree that we are bring with us and my husband doesn't feel the same way...Also if you buy them a gift do you purchase it at Walt Disney World or bring it with you...Or i'm thinking that when we return home that we could have something under the tree for them there....My boys are only 5 and 12....What would you do????We are staying at the All Stars Resort and i heard that Santa comes around is that true???Has anyone spent Christmas day in Walt Disney World and what did you do for your children to make it a special day???I want to make this family vacation special and one they will never forget...
Thanks

Hi! I would put something under the tree while you are there. Since DH doesn't agree, I guess I would do something small. Because I think it is very special to open a gift on Christmas. Because I think it would be harder for a 5 year old to comprehend that it is their "gift". Does your 5 year old believe in Santa? Then I would put a gift from Santa. That way the trip is from you, and Santa came as well! That way you have your bases covered!;) Otherwise, I would put a gift under the tree from Mickey. Sort of saying thanks for coming to visit him during a very special holiday. I would do that, and wouldn't leave one at home.

Whatever you decide, I hope you have a very magical trip, one that they will always remember as being amazing!

But you just gave me an idea, as we will be there durning the first week, and we are bringing a small tree, I think we will have the characters leave a small gift under the tree! Thanks!

Hi Again,
Thank you so much i'm glad i'm not the only one that feels that way about leaving a gift under the tree in the hotel room....How do you get the character to leave a gift????
Thanks

I definitely leave a small "Santa" present for your sons under the tree or a stocking full of small goodies (autograph book, pressed penny book, fat pen for signatures, candy cane, etc.) ... it just wouldn't be Christmas w/o something under the tree or in a stocking.

When we spent Christmas at WDW my kids were older (17 & 19), so I just gave them some spending cash for Christmas.

Here's another vote for leaving a small gift under the tree. Maybe a camera and film they could use to take their own Christmas-day pictures. Include a small-sized Disney photo album or scrapbook they could put their pictures in after they're developed. This would give them something to always remember their first Christmas in Disney World.

We will be at Pop Century Christmas morning. My kids do not know that we are going. I will have their gifts at home, so when we get back there will be something to do while they are still on break. I have got them each a few Santa gifts to have under the tree in the hotel. I am also going to take their stocking which we bought at Disneyland last year with a few little treats. And yes there was a little suprise from disney two years ago when we stayed at Movies. Let the kids leave the room first Christmas morning they will be suprised. I am sure they will be happy whatever you decide.

Disnee Dad Says.................................Tell DH it's like this. Say DD is getting married. Maybe DH or DW may have to travel clear across the country to be there, because of circumstances. Other family members may also have to travel across country.

In spite of all these costs, I think VERY VERY few would say hey, no gift for you, be happy I am here!

Buy some loot, and double DS's pleasure when they get home to X Mas part two! And trip makes three! Such a deal!

Christmas is not the same if your not at home when you are a kid who has always spent xmas morning at home with family!!

When I was growing up christmas morning was always at home. One year my parents took us to Hawaii for xmas. I will never forget it! The trip was great but on xmas morning NO TREE, NO STOCKINGS, NO PRESENTS!!! It just didnt feel right. My parents said the trip was our gift. They gave us some cash and had the tree and gifts waiting at home when we gat back. We had our reg xmas...just late.

I felt really bad that morning. To this day I vow never to take my kids away from home on xmas. If I do, I would try tobring a small version with us...tree, stockings, gifts. Christmas ment more to me than just gifts growing up but to a child if thats what they are use to, dissapointment WILL be there if that day is changed for them. IMO.

OK I need to deal with my own issues but I say DO A REG XMAS MORNING!!!!:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc
