Need some hotel help

Right now I am booked at the Extended Stay on S. Clemtine (sp?) street. Everything I have read about the hotel says it is just "ok" and about a 10-15 minute walk to the parks. However, I am worried about the walk. I am going solo and would like someplace a little closer for the walk home at night. I will not have a car.

I am going to the Blizzcon event for two days and doing five days at the park. So, I need someplace that is close to the parks and the convention center. I am going from 10/19 until 10/26.

I am really hoping that Disney offers some good room discounts for this fall. What kind of prices (either room only or package) have they offered in the past? Right now I am paying $60 a night, but I would not mind paying more if I could stay onsite since I have the credit card and could pay it off over 6 months. However, the current prices are just way to much for me.

Does anybody have any other ideas? I am sure the walk to/from the hotel is just fine even with it on a side street, but it still worries me a little.

Does it have to be a Disney hotel? Because with the Entertainment Book discount, you can get a room for around $60 a night at the Howard Johnson hotel that's much closer (and much nicer, IMO). The discount isn't available every day, but it'd certainly be worth looking into.

The Disney Hotels won't be much under $200.

Have you looked at the Islander?

Also try the Anaheim Plaza Inn.

The Disney Hotels won't be much under $200.

I was going to say the same. Even with my AP discount, I'm hard-pressed to find a room at Paradise Pier for sub-$200, and that's the cheapest of the three on-site properties. There are plenty of hotels that are both near the parks and the convention center. Clarion is cheap and average, Red Lion comes to mind...just do a search. You won't find much cheaper than $60 a night, but you can find closer!
