Having troubles deciding on where to stay for me and fiancee for our honeymoon in May 08'...

Here are some options that I have so far. Right now I'm really leaning towards the Swan&Dolphin. I like the location, price and the extras like SPA and pool and beach unlike some of the (non deluxe) disney resorts don't have. I really want to stay at one of the Deluxe Resorts in Disney but they are WAY too expensive, and from what I've done research I could save a couple of thousand dollars staying at the Swan and paying for my own meals. But from a honeymoon package I was looking at, had like extra stuff like backstage tours and a meal plane, but you can't get that unless you stay at a Disney Resort !

Just wanted to get every bodies opinion, I want to make this trip perfect for her, but I didn't want to be in debt for the rest of my life either haha !

Will you have a car? ONe thing to consider is that if you stay at a Disney resort, you get free parking at all of the parks so you can come and go s you please. At the Swan & Dolphin, you would not get the free parking at the resorts, and I believe they also charge a fee or parking there?

Have you looked into moderates? Coronado Springs has a Spa if your looking for a place with a spa. The moderates are very nice, I agree the delux are pretty expensive. Maybe you could do part of your trip at one and part of your trip somewhere else? I know its not much but AAA discount is better than nothing, and I think AAA membership is like 30 bucks, we used it for discounts on our hotel and on our rental car.

ALso maybe you could rent some DVC points for the time your there? You can usually get a pretty good deal that way.

I love the Port Orleans - French Quarter! It is a really nice themed resort that is smaller than the other moderates. It is really "cozy" so to speak! We stayed there during our planning session and before our wedding. Check to see what other special rates are out. I am partial to a May wedding! I don't think you can go wrong with your choice of hotel. You can always split your stay with different resorts too!

This was going to be my suggestion too. Maybe splurge on a night or two at the deluxe of your choice, then switch to a moderate to help with the budget. Of course, if you book a package then it ends up being two separate packages. If you think you will take advantage of all the amenities the deluxe has to offer, and it's in the budget to splurge...then go for it. AKL and WL are the cheaper deluxe resorts, so you could book a stay there. And then just book a spa treatment at the GF.

Good luck with your decision. No matter what you choose, you'll have a wonderful honeymoon. You're together in the most magical place in the world.

yeah I might look into that..

but isn't it a pain to pack up all of your stuff and move to another hotel and unload and all of that???

That's why I can't convince myself to do a split stay. I think we're gonna book the 'cheapest' room at the Polynesian which in itself, staying at the Polynesian is definitely a treat!

I think another nice resort is Caribbean if you like that beachy tropical feel. :goodvibes We're staying there this December to plan for next year. Yipee!!!

well I actually stayed at Caribbean Beach a couple of years ago and tell you the truth I wasn't really that impressed. I wanna kind of step it up a little bit since it is the honeymoon and all. I just want to know if it is worth it for the split stay or not

DH and I did a split stay between the GF and the BC for our honeymoon....we were so glad we did. It felt like 2 different vacations. I'd suggest saving your more luxurious hotel for the 2nd half of your stay, we were in more of a relaxation mode by then.
We didn't mind moving our stuff at all, as long as you'll be there for more than 3 nights I think it's worth it.
Congrats and have fun!

I've done two split stays and didn't find either to be a pain. We had our own vehicle both times, so that helped tremendously. The first time, our room was ready that morning at 10am, so we got settled in & then headed to the parks. The second time we had to wait so we checked in and just headed to the parks with our bags in the trunk. We were able to enjoy 2-3 nights at the deluxe and the rest at a moderate, and were able to afford the vacation without breaking the bank while still making it magical.

If you can afford it, go with what your heart dreams of.

We are staying at POR for our honeymoon because a Deluxe was just simply not in budget. We are young (19 and 21) so we feel it will be perfectly fine!! We won't know what we are missing!!

i'm doing a split stay between boardwalk and poly, i was told that bell services would do the move for us!
