Need some helpful advice- 9 year old

I am taking my hubby, DS (will be almost 4), Godson (9 almost 10), and my parents. I am planning things like lunch at CP and going to the Tarzan and Lion King shows. Now, I know that my DS will love these things, but what about my Godson? Do kids his age think stuff like that is Uncool? For anyone who has a child that age, what can I do to make sure he is not left out? I want him to have a good time too. At that age is is so hard to tell.

Whoops. I should have said, it is going to be a surprise for him. I could try to find ways around talking about Disney to see what he would like, but I am afraid I would give it away.

My son is 8 and he loves just about everything at Disney (minus the princesses lol).

Even the 'coolest' nine year old boy will find it very easy to just be a kid and enjoy everything. I think he'll love the shows you've picked out. I think he'll also love any character meal you choose. The character interaction for boys this age is very playful and funny. My son loves all of the character meals.

There are plenty of rides for boys his age also..and those are plenty to keep him from feeling 'left out'.

Don't stress about it too much...he's going to have a great time!

IMO even the "coolest" of kids doesn't mind being a kid in disney - no peer pressure.

None of my kids minded any of those things at that age. The even rode the carousel. boys and girls.

They LOVED the lion king show.

You must be a pretty special godparent.

Took DS last summer at 9 1/2. He's not a big Disney fan, feels too old for many of the characters, not into Princesses. We didn't do any character meals, but did take a few pictures w/ them in parks. He really got into the rides, and rode everything but MS and ToT (pretty good considering this was his first park ride experience). Favorites were Buzz in MK (go there 1st thing and try to ride it multiple times), Haunted Mansion (he was old enough to ask how they did some of the things), Splash, Test Track in Epcot, and RR in MGM (if he's a coaster fan). He suffered thru Peter Pan and Hall of Pres, so we didn't do a lot of the "classics". Catch the 3-d shows and LK show was a hit for my son even tho he didn't want to see it initially. Also, consider a trip to the water parks. Mine had the BEST time at BB with the water slides. I really think you'll be fine, and everyone will have a great time!

At 9 I think he will enjoy what you posted(my 9 year old son even sat through a Princess breakfast with his sister and had fun- although don't tell his friends) He LOVED Mission Space in EPCOT. That is the first ride we have to go on this time as well. (be warned though that I came close to passing out on this one and I am a ride person) In MK we made a point of riding the mountains- Big Thunder/Space/Splash. He thought that was cool. Don't worry about him having fun- he will love every minute of it. My DS was not so into the shows but he did sit through the Tarzan show oh and he loved the Indiana Jones show at MGM- They also are adding a stunt show there that sounds very cool- motorcycles/cars fire...it is a show from Disney Paris. Have a great time.

I asked my 9 (almost 10) yo ds and he said "pretty much all rides are good". I had him look through our guidebook and this is what he came up with.

MK -Space Mountain, Mickey's Philharmagic, Buzz Lighyear, BTM railroad, WDW railroad, Tomorrowland Transit Authority, Tomorrowland Indy Speedway, Barnstormer, (He rode all the rides in Fantasyland with his then almost 4 yr old brother and didn't complain at all. We also waited in line to see Cinderella and get her autograph. No complaints. I think it's all on how you approach it too. At the time, my 4 year old loved the movie Cinderella.)

Epcot - Mission Space, Test Track, Living Seas (if he likes water animals), Innoventions, collect the mask and charms at each country,

MGM - Star Tours, Studios Backlot Tour, Indiana Jones, Toy Story Pizza Planet for the arcade, Fantasmic,

AK - He loved getting all the stamps in his brochure book at AK. You pick one up at AK and you can go around to all the areas and do little projects to get a stamp. When you get all of the stamps you get a big stamp in your book. It's really fun! Rafiki's Planet Watch (to solve the puzzles to get a stamp and to see some animals), Lion King, Kilimanjaro Safari, Primeval Whirl (if spinning doesn't make you sick)

He loved getting autographs from the characters and collecting the smashed pennies. Make sure and stay for the fireworks and try and see a parade! I agree with the water parks! Try and go to a water park. We all had a total blast there. They have areas for little kids too. We only spent half a day there last year and we plan to go for a whole day the next time we go!

My son was 8 when we went in May 2004 and we are heading back in May 2005 and he will be 9. He loved Disney and was amazed with everything. I think there are things to do for ALL ages. Don't worry, I am sure he will have a GREAT time. Give him copies of the park maps once you arrive and let him pick out a few rides that he is really interested in.

When our DS was 9, he really liked just about everything!! He did it all! He was not crazy about the pooh charcters nor the princesses, but ended up with a kiss from snow white anyway!!! Any thing he might feel too cool for , encourage him to help his little cousin to enjoy that ride or experence and he will most likely enjoy it too!!!

DS was 9 his first time down and had fun, though it was just him and I we did have a plan and did pretty much what he wanted to do and see, it was his first trip down and my third, he liked most of the shows except he didn't want to see Winnie the Pooh , also we where in line to get his picture taken with mary Poppins but as soon as it was his turn he chickened out, noway was he going to have his picture taken with her. Minne was ok though. Here's Minnie trying to give him a kiss.

and will be 10 in April. He loves Crystal Palace.........I don't think Pooh is his favorite, but he just loves Tigger and Piglet........yep, Piglet..........he interacts well with the boys, and has each time we've been there. My son even liked seeing the Princesses........he loves to get all the autographs........I didn't tell him about pressed pennies because I knew we'd be having to do that at every machine, because he loves them at home. He rode everything, and loved it all.......including all the Fantasyland rides.........he did ask to ride something else at the Carroussel and the Country Bears, and since dh was there also, we accommodated him. Don't worry, he will love it! Oh, and I second (or third?) the water parks...........ds loves this more than the theme parks!

Edited to say, he really loved The Festival of the Lion King, and Indiana Jones!

and the fireworks..........he adored the fireworks!

When my son was 9, last time we went, he Loved the tarzan show, with all the rollerbladiing. He also loved the barnstormer, went on it about 10 times, since he doesn't like 'big' rollercoasaters. He wasn't too keen on the lion king show, but none of us were.
