Need some help.....

**For those whom also post over at wdwmagic, this post is similar to the one I posted there, figured I'd try over here to**

Ok
Ever since my first visit to Disney World when I was a kid, I was fascinated and fell in love with the Audio-Animatronics. For a long while, that was what I wanted to do when I grew up. But, as time passed I became interested in computer animation. I ended up going to "Tech school" for computer animation and graduated. I haven't gotten anywhere, mainly due to lack of talent, over-saturation of the CG market, and just plain loss of interest.....
At this point I no longer have any interest in Computer Animation as a career.

Now, for a pretty long time I've consider taking the plunge and going down to Orlando and becoming a Cast Member. My parents think I should, in fact I have full support from them in the idea.

But, I basically have 2 options...

Option 1:
Since I had such a strong interest in Animatronics / Robotics, and I think I still do, I could go back to school for Mechanical Engineering and attempt to do the CP and PI and hope i can get in.
BUT
I am not quite sure if that is where my interests truly lie. I'm quite hesitant to go back to college if I don't know what I'm going for.
**and I know that many people go into college undecided, but I don't believe in that. If I'm going to invest a lot of MY money into college, I better know what I'm doing there. **

Option 2:
Take the plunge, go down to Orlando, and become a CM. By doing this my hopes are to try my best to find out as much information on different areas, make a lot of friends and contacts, try and find my niche, and THEN do college on a part time basis when I would have a better idea of what I wanted to do (provided that schedules work together).


As I said above my parents are in full support of me going to Orlando and becoming a CM......and I'm torn between the 2 options.

Personally, I like Option 2 more. But I just don't know.

Any comments, suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Honestly...... FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS!!!! that is what disney stands for!!! But you may not get the role that you want, when moving down to orlando. Then on the other hand you have the CP program which will in a sense give you a taste of what a cast member life is like....and it is over a corse of several months! but after the CP you can go back to school or stay with Disney...and the BEST part of Orlando....you have UCF (university of Central Florida) and Valencia Community College.....So either way you have college close by you.....if you get what i mean!

Good luck and i know you will chose the RIGHT choice!

But always follow your DREAMS no matter how big they are!!!!!!!!

I'm happy you posted this man. I feel the same way about my schooling at the moment, I really couldn't be any less interested in what I'm going to school for now. I know I want some type of job in the film industry, but it isn't being a cameraman or an editor, which is what I go to school for. Honestly man, I'd say go and apply to be a cast member, if I can't get into the college program a year from now I'll probably just be taking a flight down there and seeing what jobs are available.

The more I think about it, the more I wanna do it.

If I decide to do it, I would plan on going down after June....probably July or August. **I'm taking a vacation to Disneyland in Mid-June**
So I have a couple of months to think about it.
