We have a trip planned for July but we haven't told the kids yet. I am trying to keep it a surprise until the last day of school.
Both kids are actually sad about the school year ending because they loved their teachers and had a very good year. I know both girls will be glad for summer - but very sad on the last day. (They usually are a bit sad on the last day anyway - kind of weird, I know - we must be an overly-sensitive and nostalgic bunch!) I think by telling them that they will be going to Disney in a few weeks will really kick off the summer in a big way!
They think we might be taking a vacation this summer but we've led the to believe it will be a long weekend someplace local.
We've been many times throughout the years and the kids are older (11 and 13) - I am just trying to come up with a fun, creative way to spring the surprise on them. If anyone has any great ideas for kids this age, I would really appreciate it! Thanks so much!
