I am totally disgusted.
I have been on Atkins for 3 weeks, today is the start of my 4th week.
On my first week I lost 6 lbs. I ate eggs, meat, cheese, and lots of Crystal light.
The 2nd week I added some of the Atkins bars instead of lunch and 2 tsp heavy cream to my tea with bfst. Still, eggs, meat and cheese. No salads or carbs other than approx 3 pieces of cheese for the week thw Atkins bar and the cream with tea. I gained 2 lbs.
Last week I stuck to the induction plan. Eggs and bacon for bfst, Cheeseburger or tuna with mayo for lunch, Steak, fish, or chicken for dinner with a small salad made of lettuce and Marie's super blue 0 carb salad dressing. I had water all day, at least 2 liters, and 1 8 oz glass of crystal light with dinner.
I used the keto urine sticks and got into ketosis the 5th day of the first week, only 3 days of the 2nd week and every day of the third week. Today I am back to normal, no change in color at all.
I went to a picnic and was so proud of myself for eating only my Hummel 0 carb hot dogs and a small salad while everyone ate pastas, potato salad baked beans, and marinated chicken. And I didn't even crave the chocolate mousse and banana cream pie.
I got on the scale this morning and I am 2 lbs MORE than when I started. MORE!!!!!!! I do see that some of the flab on my back is gone, haven't seen any difference in my waist or thighs (where I need to lose) but to weigh MORE????
I am doing about 20 minutes on the stair climber each night, and try to use my Body by Jake butisimo reducer (it has a different name but he loves to talk about the buttisimo)
So what am I doing wrong?
I vowed to myself to stick with it until my next trip to WDW on September 19th, but can someone who had these results and is now doing well please let me know that I am ok. Peggie

Peggie,
You are not the only one! I haven't gained but I haven't lost that much either. I can feel a little difference in my waist but not all that great. This is my 4th week of induction and I have been really strict with myself less than 20 carbs a day NO extras, ie crystal light, bars etc.
Actually, I was beginning to wonder if I need the 20 carbs to lose weight. Could we be hurting ourselves by eating less? Is it some magical combination that you need at least 20 carbs?
Anyway, I just thought I'd let you know I feel your pain!
BTW: We are going to Disney on Sept. 19 too!!!

I only lost 6-lbs during my first week, too.

You can do it.

God bless, best wishes, and encouragement, RaySharpton:)

Oh, Peggie, I know it sucks to lose, then NOT lose and then to gain! YIKES!

But hang in there! Check out Ray's weight loss in his signature. He has had some challenges, but he's stuck it out and it seems to really be paying off for him. You just keep doing what you are doing. I don't know much about Atkins but it sounds like you are eating within the guidelines of the program!

Hope you are feeling more positive soon. The scale is such a freaky thing - one day it's your friend and the next day it's your enemy. I am happy that you are feeling less flabby on your back! The rest of your body will catch up eventually!!!

Hang in there! :)

Also...don't forget to re-read the section in the Atkins book that talks about not losing...there are some hints to get you started losing.

Also...we noticed that some of the lo-carb cookbooks have large portion sizes and we started gaining when we ate all they recipe said to eat. Once we cut the portion size down...we were good to go and back on the road to losing. We figured out...event though lo-carb, lots of protein/dairy...we still have to control the portions we eat. Atkins says...eat, only until you are almost full and drink 8 oz of water before you sit down to eat so that you don't over eat.

Not that you are...just some hints to help you so that you can start losing again. We found these things by trial and error.

Keep positive...you will start losing.

Good luck.

I know it's very very frustrating.

One thing I've been seeing lately from people who are "doing it right" is that they often drink lots and lots of Crystal Light. Are you aware that for every 8 oz you need to count one+ carb? Two liters of Crystal light is more than 9 carbs - awfully close to half a day's alotment of carbs! Someone here mentioned drinking a gallon of Crystal light - that's 128 oz or 16 carbs! Add to that atkins bars which can really throw things outta whack for some people and weight loss will really really slow down! I think it's important to pay attention to this. Crystal Light is nice, but it's not an Atkin's freebie! In fact, the "cost" in carbs may make it too "expensive" for most of us! Forgive me if my math is wrong! If you're using fitday.com, be sure to include what you are drinking as well!

Just a thought!

Karyn

Are you eating your salad? I see you posting meat, but without the salad things will not flush correctly.

No advice on adkins since I'm not familiar with it beyond reading here, but I can offer *hugs* and some cheerleading! I'm sure you can do it, just stick with it for a little longer! :)
