We are headed to WDW next year for our big Disney trip. However, we will be in Florida this summer with the whole in-laws and everyone wants to do a day trip to Animal Kingdom..then we head to Fulton Crab House for dinner. There are 7 adults, 1 almost 4 year old, 1 3 1/2 year old and a 10 month old.

My question is...is AK worth going to with small children? Both boy's love animals but I am afraid that there won't be much for them to ride on. I think they are too young and we are better of going to Sea World or a zoo, but everyone else wants to do AK.

We have taken our 4 year old ds to AK on four different trips and I would say that it is his favorite park other than MK. The first time he went he was barely 3. AK is a lot more than just animals. The shows are wonderful. Our favorites are Festival of the Lion King and Tarzan Rocks and the 3-d tough to be a bug inside the tree of life. The safari ride is wonderful and lets you see a lot of animals. My son also likes to play in the boneyard and watch the parade. My first time I expected it to be a lot like a zoo but it is so much more. We plan to go again next week when we are there. Give it a shot. I think you will be happy you did!

Ok..I have been there in the summer. Know this...the AK is at least 10 degrees hotter than any of the other parks. WHy? Because of the veggetation that they have to plant. A CM told us this as we were standing there saying "we just can't seem to stop dripping with sweat". This was in July...the temp in the AK that day...105 degrees.

The safari ride...not so great b/c it was so hot...the animals were hiding & laying down to keep cool. Our best Safari's have been in December & April. The Kali River Rapids...sold out of FP's b/c it was soooo hot. Wait time 2 hours for a 1 minute river raft ride. Yes refreshing...but the wait was too long. The shows are good. The Lion King is a MUST! My 2 1/2 yr old niece liked Bugs Life...but it can be scary for some children.

The bone yard was cute for her. All in all....MK is a better choice IMO for the ages of your children.

Thank you for your reply. I was thinking the same thing. I would rather skip it and all Disney parks because we are going in August which will be very hot. Do you know where I can find the admission prices?
