I just came back from my travel agent and have a big decision to make.... hoping that some of you experienced Disney people can help me.

I am in the process of booking the 5 for 7 deal for October and have to decide between Wilderness lodge (standard Woodsview room) or Port Orleans French Quarter. The difference in Price for me is $1000 (Canadian) and I'm having a hard time deciding if the Wilderness lodge is worth the extra money. We've never ever stayed in Disney before so even if there's a different resort you can recommend. I'm not interested in the value resorts as they look kind of cheesy to me (no offence meant to anyone!)

Please help me!! This will be a first trip for my boys (4 and 10yo) and dh and I haven't been since 1993.

Plane tickets are booked:Pinkbounc so now I just need to book accomodation.::MickeyMo

I have never been to either resort but I hear they are both great. I have however stayed at Riverside, the sister hotel to the FQ and I really really liked it.

So honestly if it were me I would look at the 1000 savings to possibly use for Mickeys not so scary Halloween party, some nice character meals, souvinears and stuff like that.

Just me personally.

I have stayed at both resorts and they both have pros and cons. the best thing to me about WL is you can take the boat over to the MK followed by the food cort being right in the hotel, I have stayed woodsview standard room and looved it. I also stay at If it was me (and just my 2 cents worth) I would save the thousand and stay at PO, it is a nice hotel, a great pool for kids and the rooms are nice. I am sure no matter what you do you'll have a great time :D

Sorry that price doesn't sound right...Even though a The Wilderness lodge is a Deluxe and POFQ is a moderate...the price in the rooms would only be appx $110.00 a night making the difference being closer to $550.00 between the two if you are paying for five nights...Did your TA add something additional to the deluxe price?

I may be wrong and they may do the 5/7 by some new formula I don't know about..That is my figuring just the price difference in the rooms....(Woods View $254.00 a night - Water View room at POFQ $ 159.=$110.00 X5=$550.00)

I have stayed in both but prefer Wilderness Lodge. A picture speaks louder then words.

Of those two resorts, we have only stayed at WL. It is a terrific resort, but only you can decide it it's worth the extra $. POFQ is highly rated around here too:earsboy:

I really think that POFQ is really the place to be!! You will absolutely love it there. I have heard wonderful things about WL, too, don't get me wrong, but I think you will be more than satisfied with POFQ!:hyper:

PLEASE, let us all know which one you decide on!!

Resort choice is the TOUGHEST:crazy: it can drive you crazy because they are all very nice and all have their own personalities. Just make the decision based upon what your family will enjoy - will they spend much time at the resort? Will they be there only to sleep and take showers? Does your DS 4 yo need a nap? (my DD 5 does). Your DDs may be more interested in Epcot, MGM, AKL and the water parks than in the magic kingdom.

We've stayed at the wilderness campground and are going to WL in June. Part of our decision to stay at a MK resort was that my two DD's love the princess' and I know MK will be an every day trip for us.

I didn't mean to go on so long! Anyway, the 1000 extra was canadian? Is the canadian dollar less or more than the american dollar? I'm pretty sure it's less but not half as much. You might want to check into what magicinMYHeart pointed out. Maybe the exchange rate isn't completed correctly. If you haven't booked yet, maybe try the Disney website to get a live quote and see if it matches what you've been given. Just an idea.
ENJOY:hyper: your trip! How exciting:hyper:

at the Disney live reservation web site and the price I did get was only about $700 Canadian difference (exchange for us today is $1.42) Prices I got were $2600US for WL and $2100 for PO

Spoke to dh and he said since this was to be our first trip to Disney with the kids we would go all out :p :bounce: :Pinkbounc

WL here we come... Can't wait till October now!!

Thanks for the info and opinions!!

I have stayed at the Port Orleans French Quarter and loved it. I think you will too. Just staying on Disney grounds makes a big difference. We now stay in Deluxe resorts because we are 5 people. But if we were 4 I would not hesitate to stay there again. The pool is alot of fun there and they have a great food court to eat at....

After staying at moderates for a while, we have recently been staying at deluxes....I don't know if I can ever go back (or if my wife would let me...) You will have a great time in POR, but WL is something altogether different.
