Need some advice

How would one go about getting rid of sugar ants? We found a couple tonight. My husband is outside spraying poison around the edges of the house right now, but is there anything we can do that will certainly kill them?

Are they inside the house? In your cabinets and such? We have all kinds of "ant" problems.. Here at the lake it's the big black ones - back at DD's it's the small reddish brown ones that get in the cabinets, on window sills, etc..

If your DH can get powdered chalk (which is non-toxic), he can sprinkle that all around the outside of the house (right up close to the house itself).. For some reason, ants normally won't cross the chalk..

If that's not an option, go to the supermarket or Agway and get a box of Arm and Hammer Borax (it's in the soap aisle).. Sprinkle that around the outside of the house and also inside - wherever the ants are.. (Again - it's non-toxic..)

And of course there are ant traps for indoors - but they are toxic (most of them anyhow) and should be kept away from pets, children, and food products..

Good luck! My big black ants will be invading me here at the lake as soon as the humidity sets in.. Ugh!

I agree. Isn't it toxic though? I cant remember and don't have a package handy.
Just put it away from where pets and kids would be. I used this a few years ago, just inside my doors and bang, they were gone!

Terro is very toxic but they make it now in enclosed "traps" that are more kid and pet friendly. But you do want to be careful and keep it out of their reach, especially if your pets chew. I love terro!
