I have a small area near my garage that gets full sun and I just dug up the plant I had there because of the thorns it had & I kept stepping on..
The area is between my sidewalk & driveway & close to garage, so my total area is 3 ft x 3 ft but can grow up to 8 feet tall....I'm in zone 6.
Any help would be appreciated...Would love something that bloomed, fragrant, produced berries...

Thanks.

How about a mock orange shrub. It has beautiful fragrant flowers, although the berries aren't much to speak of. It will hold a nice shape as it grows. One of my favs.

The other ones I'd think about would be Chokeberry or Winterberry.

I'm in zone 4 so I don't know how they'd do in zone 6, though.

thanks!
I'll check them out

At first I was going to suggest a Burning Bush but after doing some research found even the compact variety can get quite wide. The fall color is so nice though. I found a few bushes that stay compact here. http://www.horsfordnursery.com/new/plants/deciduous_shrubs/html/deciduous_shrubs3.html This Hydrangea looks beautiful.

Thanks Deb...
I'm in zone 6 though :(

Right now we're looking into Mock Orange...

Thanks Deb!!!
That might be what we get!
I'll try & keep you updated..
I am going to try & dig a pong also this year...
I have a small one but will probaly double it or more..
Hope to dig deep enough to get fishies too... :hyper:

Shep- We're enlarging our pond too this year. Mine is already fairly big, 1000 gallons and we have fish but you can never have a big enough pond! I'm glad you got that mock orange advice. We bought one last year and we really enjoyed it. I'm on Long Island, zone 7 and it's doing beautifully. Good luck deciding!
