My DS (9 months) will be 17 months when we go. What kind of snacks do you bring for your 1 1/2 year olds?

Jen

My DD7 was about 2-3/4 the first time we went. The snack she enjoyed most was dry cereal. It made it really easy in the a.m. to get her ready. We would get ourselves all ready to go and have our breakfast in the room and then we would wake her up, get her dressed, and head out to the parks, grabbing a few small boxes (or ziploc bags) of her current favorite dry cereal. She's never been one of those who eats when she first wakes up (that's true even now) and with the 3 hr. difference between FLA and CA, waking her up at the last minute, made it easier for us too.

She would just munch on her cereal as we pushed her along in her stroller. An added benefit with the cereal was that while we did the baby-switch, on Tower of Terror, she had alot of fun feeding the birds that hang out in the outside waiting area. It made the time go faster for both of us. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

That was her main snack. Even now she doesn't like popcorn (I know, :confused3 ). I also bring along non-melty cookies and crackers, like goldfish. The one snack she loves to get in the parks, is the large pretzels. :goodvibes

Hope this helps. Have a great time!

At that age I did a lot of the gerber graduate snacks. Cost a little more but they are geared toward the developental needs of a toddler. Read low choke hazards. They have a lot of great choices.

We brought along the following snacks:

Gerber Biter Buscuits
apple slices/bananas/cut up grapes (to avoid choking hazard)
baby goldfish (DD was a chocker so the regular sized ones were too big)
crackers (ritz, townhouse, teddy grahms mini's)
cereal (cheereo's, fruit loops)

My dd will be almost 2 when we go. I am taking some of the peanut butter sandwich crackers, goldfish crackers and granola bars. We might also take some fruit with us also as both kids love their fruit.

I give my 18 month old alot of Gerber Graduate snacks, like the Wagon Wheels, Fruit Juice Snacks, Puffs, and the Cereal Bars. He also loves Ritz crackers, Cheerios, soft cheese, bananas, and soft cookies like fig newtons.

I took along the gerber graduates treats as well. I often got a banana or grapes and but them up for the kids. Worked well.

Great ideas, anyone have any thoughts on drinks? My little darling loves to throw his sippy cup and I'm afraid we will end up losing several if I just let him have one. Is there anything on the market you know if that you can attach a sippy to the stroller, but still allow them to drink?

Thanks!

You have 2 great options:

- In babies r us they sell a cord for the bottles and sippy cups, but will not fill every model.

- They sell disposable sippy cups, containers and silverware, in the baby section of target, walmart, etc, and I can´t remember the name, but I think they say something like Take ´n toss, hard as I am trying, but you can´t miss them. These are made of a strong plastic, so you can wash them between uses.

Yes, they are Take n Toss! Those are GREAT! You can take a bunch with you and not worry if your baby loses it! They sell them EVERYWHERE...we have about 20 of them with Disney Princesses!!! They come in all kinds of designs now.

As for snacks, my DD is 21 months old. She LOVES dry cereal! (cheerios, fruit loops, etc) I also still get her the Gerber Graduates Puffs snacks. They also make them in small snack packs now, so you can just grab and go. She likes crackers, too. Any kind of cracker! And of course, pretzels. The small rods...she just LOVES them! And 100 calorie packs of cookies! I can go on and on!

Our favorite snacks were all listed above.
This isn't really a "snack", but if your child will eat vegetables, they now make the small cans of veggies with the pop-top lid. We always bring those with us when we're going out for fast food (including WDW) and that is what DS starts his meal with. (I know, I know - we're so mean!:rotfl: ) I think they are also starting to do the same thing with canned fruit.

My little one was that age when we went last month. I sent ahead a box with treats and breakfast foods and we were always prepared for the day. She had dry Cheerios for breakfast, and we always brought along Goldfish. She ate fries a lot too. (I know, bad mommy.) But we also learned that she loves grapes while we were there, since they always were included with the kids meals. :thumbsup2

Oh, and you can buy Parmalat milk (like juice boxes) and ship it ahead. It doesn't need to be refrigerated. I was lucky to find the soy milk equivalent, as dd can't drink regular milk. This really was essential for us.

I also recommend the Take n Toss snack cups and sippies. They were a lifesaver!
