I want to make something 'different' from the usual sugar cookies and stuff. The teacher wants small sized treats (no big cakes to cut,etc...). At halloween I made those cool eyeballs that went over so well - I know the kids expect DD to bring something 'neat'. Help!!

How about a variation on your eyeball idea? You could use the timbits, dip them in chocolate, add a piece of red cherry or a small candy for a nose, broken pretzels for antlers and mini coloured chips for eyes. Voila! Reindeer!

I'm making 6 dozen Santa cupcakes for school on Friday. They are really easy and very cute.

Frost the cupcakes in white frosting. Use red sugar to go across the top of the cupcake, and taper it down the left side of the cupcake top, like Santa's cap. Use a miniature marshmallow for the fluff at the end of the cap. Cut miniature marshmallows in half and put them along the bottom edge of the red sugar for the fur trim on his cap. Use decorating gel for eyes (I use green, just put green dots) and a red hot for his nose. Cut miniature marshmallows in half and put them along the bottom of the cupcake top for his beard.

They are adorable, and the kids love them!

Snowmen Cookies: These are really easy. You will need white fudge covered OREOS, gum drops and chocolate tube icing. Cut a gumdrop in half and attach a half to each side of the cookie to make earmuffs ( they stick right on). Cut an orange gumdrop in quarters and use one quarter to make a "carrot" nose. Use the chocolate tube icing to connect the earmuffs and draw eyes and mouth. My DD5 loved making these last year.

Rice Krispy "Trees": Make Rice Krispy treats adding green food coloring and cut with Christmas tree shaped cookie cutters. You can even decorate with sprinkles or tube icing.

Chocolate Dipped Pretzels: Melt white or milk chocolate, or both (microwave works well). Using pretzel rods, dip half in the chocolate and roll in sprinkles or colored sugar. Place on a wax paper lined cookie sheet and chill in refrigerator until set, about 15 minutes.

All of these are really easy and kids can even help make them. The Snowmen are adorable and they take no time at all to make.

Good luck! :)
Mary
