Hi guys! Does anyone have any suggestions for a standard room? I think I had read somewhere that above the Whispering Canyon Cafe was a good location?? I'm happy with any suggestions.

the standard rooms are around the lobby - so any of them will be fine.

there are also a few with parking lot views - not so great.

Although not a particular problem for us, I believe the rooms above the WCC are often considered a bit too noisy during the crowded season.

Go over to the WL thread and there is a room map in the early pages.

Stayed there last month, had 2 standard rooms, 5042 ane 5044, now the view itself was not great, but didnt experience any noise that some folks complain about (maybe because we were on the 5th floor) PLUS room 5044 had a really nice view of the fireworks which we enjoyed from our balcony every night...the view of the fireworks from 5042 was so so, but 5044 was really nice to watch the fireworks from considering that this was a 'standard view' room...hope this helps....

COOL! I will ask for 5044 for Feb. 2008!:thumbsup2

Don't ask for a specific room number. If that room is unavailable, the CM assigning the room will not know where to put you, as he/she will not know WHY you wanted that particular room.

What do you want to see? The fireworks at MK? Some trees? The parking lot?

If you want a great view of the MK fireworks, ask for ANY room on the sixth floor, from numbers 6030-6604. Avoid the standard rooms that end in 70-99; these are the ones directly above the Whispering Canyon Cafe. From 7am-10pm, it is VERY loud. We were in a honeymoon suite on the 7th floor directly above the WCC and this was my ONLY complaint about our room on that trip.

I just stayed in standard room 6056. It was PERFECT! We watched the MK fireworks from our beds 2 nights. :cloud9: We were not bothered at all by the noise from the "service area". If you open your balcony door, you will hear cars, trucks, etc. But once you close it, it's pretty soundproof. You WILL, however, hear the boat horns as they go over that bridge that connects SSL to Bay Lake. A couple nights, during the EMH and Pirates and Princess Parties, when the Mk was open until 1am, we were hearing boats until almost 2:30am...BRING EARPLUGS!!!

Where is the WL thread? I cannot find it!

Are 6030-6604 standard or woods view rooms??

Thanks for the Tip, I have been bringing my earplugs the last 3 trips, they work great!:thumbsup2

You know, I'm not sure now. I pulled those numbers from the Unofficial Guide, but now looking at the room # map on the FAQ page, there doesn't seem to even BE rooms numbered 66##. I'm confused.

If you book STANDARD, the following rooms will be GREAT for MK fireworks views:

-6th floor EVEN NUMBERED rooms 6042-6066

I want to echo the great advice that brergnat gave.

DON'T REQUEST A SPECIFIC ROOM NUMBER. If that room is unavailable, the room assigner can't be expected to be psychic and know why you choose room 5044. is it your lucky number? Did you win the lottery with that number and used the winnings to pay for your trip? Are you superstitious? Is it your childhood address? They have no way of knowing WHY you want that room number. So if it's unavailable to you, they have no way of knowing where else you want to be, and will just stick you anywhere.

Instead, state WHAT you want in your request. State it just like you did in your post, near this or with a view of that. Keep it simple, but make sure it clearly communicates what you want.
