I have been looking at the group dining menus for Citrico's, Narcoosee's, Victoria & Alberts and California Grill. I do not like any of them. For one thing, my sister and I are allergic to seafood. We cannot have crab or shrimp or any shellfish at all. To make things worse, I HATE onions. I can't even stand the smell of them. I don't let my fiance even bring them in the house. I cook without them, and cannot stand even little bits of them in my food. Also, I'm pretty picky. I like normal food, steak, potatoes, veggies, nothing I can't pronounce. Those menus all seem weird. I need a great place that is nice, affordable, and either lets me customize the menu or has a normal one with no seafood or warm onion tarts or shrimp or goat cheese ravioli. Yuck.
The last thing I want to do is spend $85 on a dinner that I cannot eat.
Thanks.

Have you looked at the Yachtsmen steakhouse (yacht Club)? they are a little pricey but nothing frou frou just the best steak in disney IMO!

Hiya!! We're doing 'Ohana for dinner for our Intimate Reception. I don't do fancy food, or seafood either. It seems more palatable for everyones tastes. I found their menu synopsis:
Starters

Fried Wontons served with peanut sauce, chimichurri sauce and harissa
Mixed greens with a honey-lime dressing

Appetizers

Spicy-sweet and sour shrimp
Honey-coriander chicken wings

Skewers
Prepared over an oak fire

Marinated Sirloin Steak
Asian Barbecue Pork Loin
Mesquite Grilled Turkey
Hawaiian Pork-sausage with pineapple terriyaki glaze

Accompaniments

Maui Scalloped Potatoes
Stir-fried Vegetables

Dessert

'Ohana bread pudding a la mode with Bananas Foster Sauce

HTH!!

Hi
I was going to say Yachtman Steakhouse as well.. Try also Artist Point.... You can also call ahead to the restaurant and let them know about your specific needs.. :surfweb:

Wow, you guys work so quick! I have been on all ears net looking at menu after menu. The only one I really like so far is at the Swan and Dolphin, but that may be a biit out of our way. Can we get a bus or something to take us there?

im assuming this is in an intimate wedding. you can book towncars in advance or take taxi's over to the swan & dolphin its about a 15 minute drive. we booked towncars for our rehearsal & dinner through mears it was $15 each way per towncar. we had our rehearsal dinner at whispering canyon & the food there was so good ribs, steak, chicken, garlic pasta. it was so much fun with all the chaos there too.

palio's is good at the swan i like the strolling musicians (but i hear its closing soon). theres also bluezoo which is very delicious but its menu is almost all seafood.

I have gone back and forth between intimate and custom many times. There is just so much to consider. Most of my family members have issued with other family members. I wish I could count on them all to just get along, but I cannot. Plus, my grandma is Hungarian and old-fashioned. She does not want me in college. She wants me to be a stay-at-home mom. She is really mad at me right now and says that I think I'm better than everyone because of my education. Who wants someone like that, family or not, at their wedding? There have been many family fights even one on my grandma's front lawn during my Great Grandma's 80th b-day party. Scott's mother will not fly, so she will not come to Disney anyway. If flying wasn't a problem for her, she still wouldn't go because Scott's brother is the best man, and there are family issues there, too. So, we talked it over and decided to do what WE want and what makes us happy. I am not catering to anyone. So, we're inviting his brother, and my brother and sister. My sis has 2 kids, so they will come, too. It will be small, but it will be the people who care about us the most. I want a really fun place to go afterwards. I want good food, and a place where we can all relax and enjoy our time together.
It's so hard to find what I am looking for. The dessert reception seems cheesy. The menu that I saw was all cheap stuff like cookies and brownies. If it were creme brulee and fancy cheescakes and tira misu, etc. I'd be interested. I didn't recognize anything on Victoria & Albert's menu except a truffled egg? That just sounds gross. I want normal food. Citrico's group menu has a warm onion tart as the appetizer. I hate onions so much that they aren't even allowed in the house. My poor fiance hasn't eaten an onion since 1999. Narcoossee's seemd good, but thet have a lot of seafood, and my sister and I are both allergic. I can't find anything perfect :(
The upside is that I have a year+ to figure it out. I need some guidance. Maybe even place where they have a show?

For my sisters wedding we did the Luau at the Poly. I have read of some also doing the Hoop Dee Due Revue...you may find the food here more of what you are looking for.

I understand how you feel. I'm insisting on a vegetarian wedding, and I'll be the ONLY vegetarian there! :rotfl: It's how I want things, so my family will have to deal with it... and honestly I'm gonna really enjoy the looks on their faces when they look around for the meat! :rotfl2:

Now, my wedding is not at Disney, but I would think that if you asked for changes to the menu due to real allergies, or things you just don't like (just tell them it's allergies) ;) ...I would think they would make the changes you want. I basically asked my venue to change the ENTIRE menu, and they were actually enthusiastic to do it! I brought in recipes, and ideas of what I wanted, and they made it for me. Just ask, and give it a try. If there is a location you like, stay with the location and ask them to change the menu. :thumbsup2 :teeth: Good luck!

I recommend Shula's at the Dolphin for an excellent "meat and potatoes" meal. I do believe the group rate meal starts at $75/person, and includes several appetizer, entree, and dessert choices. The selection of steak is pretty amazing too! Good luck :goodvibes

Are you talking about the Illuminations Dessert Parties? They have several different menus available. Sounds like you are talking about the Child In You menu. They have mini european pastries, you can get tiramisu, cheesecakes, eclairs, etc. Basically they can customize the menus for you. Of course the price increases the fancier you get. I was given at least 5 different menus when we were considering a DP. Unfortunately, we were only allowed to book Morocco, which I don't like, so we declined. We're having M&M instead.
Hope you find a place that fits your needs!

We have booked a table at Cinderellas Royal Table for our reception meal. There will be 12 of us in total & we wanted something a bit special especially for our girls who love the princesses. My baby Jaimie can't wait to go to "Cinderellis house!!"

please bear in mind though that you will have to change out fo your dress cos they will not allow bridal attire into the parks when theyre open.

Already prepared for this, just hoping plan works. I have bought a 2 piece dress & hope to be able to wear the bodice with a casual ivory trouser suit, the girls dresses aren't too glam & DF,BM & my dad can strip to shirts and trousers. Do you think it will work??

Where can I find a menu for the Illuminations dessert party? The one I saw was $19.50 and had lemon bars, brownies, cookies, rice krispie treats, coffee, tea, and lemonade. If there are other choices, I'd love to know what they are. I love lemon squares and cookies as much as the next person, but for a wedding event, I'd want something fancier.

After looking at the menus, I was considering Shula's. Anyone had a group dinner there? The rooms look nice on their website, and I am a steak kinda girl.

I would suggest either the Yachtsman Steakhouse or Le Cellier in the Canadian pavilion at Epcot.

Btw,Disney is AMAZING when it comes to special food requests/allergies. I am allergic to nuts, DF (and his whole family) are allergic to seafood and we have some other food allergies as well and every Disney restaurant I have eaten in are very careful and wonderfully accomodating. At our site meeting with Pam she told us Disney even made a glucose free wedding cake for one couple. When you make your ressie you should mention it and see if you need to give them advance notice or if you can just tell the host when you get there about the allergies.
