Need resort restaurant suggestions

I'm looking for suggestions for a moderately priced sit down restaurant in one of the resorts for our first evening. There will be 4 adults.

Not sure if this would be considered moderately priced, but O'hana (at the Poly) is GREAT!! DH and I LOVED it! It's $21.99 per person, and it's worth every penny! It's all you can eat, but it's not a true buffet...they bring the food out to you. It is wonderful...I can't wait to go back!

If you want something a bit different, Boma (at AKL) is really good, too. I think the price is the same. DH and I have eaten at Boma twice and really enjoyed it both times! It's a wonderful experience.

Boatwrights at Port Orleans Riverside is very good, the salad is worth whatever extra they may charge for it. The dressing is outstanding. There are also some good choices at Downtown Disney, Captain Jacks, Rainforest Cafe, and some counters where you can take food to a table outside on the patio if it is a nice evening. The Contemporary has a great fast food place on the 1st floor and a huge arcade.

I second 'Ohanas! The food is good and the atmospher is tropical and magical (especially the view from the windows of Cinderellas Castle). If you go on a night when the fireworks are being displayed at MK, you can view them from the restaurant or if it starts after you are finised eating, go out to the beach at the Poly, grab a lounge chair and enjoy your view from the beach. Another option would be the Cape May Cafe Clam Bake at the Beach Club. This is also an all you can eat buffet about the same price as 'Ohanas. After dinner you could take a short walk to the Boardwalk and catch some of the entertainment.

Animal Kingdom - Bomas!! Oh yes, it will be an experience. Allow a couple of hours so you can explore the resort, see the animals, relish the lobby, visit the shop, etc. Then, the buffet ($21.99 plus tax/tip/beverage), a gourmet buffet of exotic African dishes, with enough variety to appeal to most everyone. Be sure to ask them for some of their breakfast juice called "frunch" - if they have any left from their earlier meal they'll give it to you.

I recommend one of the best kept secrets in WDW: Olivia's in OKW. Always a great meal!

I love both Boma's and Olivia's but my choice would be:

Trails End at Ft Wilderness Campgrounds.

Take the water launch from the Contemporary to FtW (very pleasant) Take a hayride for $8 ea. then enjoy dinner at Trails End. Nothing fancy, just good food at a decent price (for WDW ) after that you could watch the Electrical Water Pageant and take the boat back to the Contempary. The buses aren't bad but the boats before and after dinner are an added bonus for atmosphere.

For "Finer" dining at a decent price, I agree with Boma's & Olivia's

I like what you suggested, Cheryl. I've never visited Ft. Wilderness but have heard nice things about it from my friend. The boat idea is fantastic and a leisurely ride there and back does, indeed sound romantic and full of atmosphere.
I have eaten at Olivia's and at O'Hana's and they are both great, though the price is not considered "moderate."

There is nothing like starting off your trip with a nighttime visit to the Polynesian, between the lit torches, neandering walkways, landscaping, and, best of all, the Electric Water Pageant (and fireworks from MK, at certain times of year)!!

Actually, the selections are limitless!

At Chef Mickey's, there is the Concourse Steakhouse, but you will have the monorail right there, so if that is a distraction, then you might consider elsewhere.

At the Polynesian, 'Ohana is very good, but don't forget about Kona Cafe. It is quieter, and has great desserts.

At the Beach Club, we always enjoy Cape May Cafe, with their all you can eat Clam bake buffet. The steamers, mussels, shrimp, salad bar, soup, chicken, beef, pasta and dessert bar offer something for everyone, and it is very reasonably priced!

At Boardwalk, Spoodles is really good, and then you can enjoy the ambience of the Boardwalk after dinner!

I would say hands down, O'hana. You pay something like $21.99, but they keep the food coming as long as you can keep eating. Plus the Poly is a beautful resort and if you can time it to see the MK fireworks it makes it an even more special night. The food is great and the atmosphere can't be beat. We go there every trip.

The WL lounge, Konas at the Poly, Big River Brewery (love to sit outside watching the boats & people) and ofcourse Beaches & Cream

Oh Grumpy! Beaches and Cream... That's perfect! I suggested Trail's End but I think you've chosen better!

Oh, I forgot about Big River Grille, I like that one too! Great for lunch... love the Honey Mustard Chicken sandwich, and the people watching on the Boardwalk!

Our all time favorite is Cape May Cafe Clam Bake. In 9 years, and 6 trips, we never, ever miss it, and it never fails to satisfy!
