I need rental points for Vero Beach for July14, 2009-July 17, 2009. I have had two members search for me only to find that there was no availability (for any size room) for the above dates. Although when I called to make reservations over the phone they stated there were plenty of rooms available (of course at the much higher price). I am confused?! Should I stop trying to find someone to rent me points or does the inventory change daily? I am new to this so any advice is welcome! Thanks :)

If you are not a member, there is no way for you to call Member Services to check on availability of points stays. What might be available through CRO is not what is available using points.

Just because cash rooms are available, that does not mean that point rooms are available. Disney retains a smal ownership, and can rent the rooms of their ownership if they aren't needed for maintenance issues.

Plus, when a member trades out of the DVC system, like for a cruise or Adventures by Disney, rooms are turned over to cash inventory to recoup the cost of the trade. It is the norm for there to be some cash inventory, even if there is no points inventory.

This is an often asked question here, both by new DVC members and non-Members, such as the OP, who are having difficulty finding availability.

Looks like VB is full for that time. As Chuck said Cash rooms are available because some member(s) have traded out and this is the only way for DVC to recoup the $ they paid to the outside resort(s) for the DVC member(s) to book.

Thank you all for explaining this! Now I know to stop searching and just book through the resort:)
